Not sure how you think he's the "perfect" fit. Like I said, I like the guy and think he's talented....I just think our offensive system is a very poor fit for his game. The only part of his game that fits our system well is he throws a good deep ball but that is a very small percentage our offense. If you look at what he does well.....it isn't what we ask or want from a QB. If you look at the weaknesses of his game it is the meat and potatoes of our offensive scheme.
You know that the knock on him is accuracy and velocity on intermediate throws over the middle and outside the hashes while throwing from the pocket..... which is the staple of KOC's offense right? You know that what makes him special is his dual threat ability and yet we want a pocket passer correct? Just not sure how anyone who's watched this kid can say he's the perfect QB for KOC's offense. Maybe he can fix some of his issues and be really good, but arm strength for a guy of any build but especially a guy like him is usually pretty tough to fix!

I don't know sheet about scouting QBs Red.
Dan Orlovsky says that Jayden Daniels would be the perfect QB for Minnesota out of this years candidates. He says style wise he would be a plug in and play guy for them that could very well have a CJ Stroud like season for them.
I do know that Daniels has a great and simple delivery. Nice tight arm tuck and short throwing motion. Very easy to repeat.
He has Outstanding athleticism and simply glides when he runs. He has without question an NFL arm.
Misses some when he gets lazy with footwork but his misses are not nearly as Bad as Maye's. Both guy might be coached out of this but Maye would be a bigger question mark to me on that one.
As far as the Viking system goes I believe KOC would love having a guy like Daniels. You could do so much with the playbook with proper time and I don't think you would really have to change much just add layers.

"To be honest, I see it as Caleb and then 2A, 2B between Jayden and Penix," an NFC OC says. "I just think as far as a thrower, coming in, he'll be a top-five pure arm talent in the NFL. When you look at some of the other guys, it's obviously Josh Allen, Mahomes, Herbert, Matthew Stafford, Aaron Rodgers. I think he's kind of that next guy, in terms of what he can do with his arm. It's quick. It's powerful. There's not a part of the field that he can't touch. I think from a pure arm standpoint, it is pretty special with what he can do."

Penix has a lot to like. An absolutely gifted arm talent.
Phil Simms called him the best thrower of the football to come into the game in a long time.

That he went through the journey he did can instill confidence that, whatever the challenge is, Penix will find a way to meet it. "Penix is my No. 2 guy," says one coordinator. "I love Penix. I think he's a stud. He's a born leader, cool, calm and collected in a genuine way... Everyone we had around him loved him. He was A-plus, smart, crushed it on the board. With his personality, he's not afraid of the challenge." An AFC OC adds, "He's got real confidence in himself. He took Indiana to heights it hadn't been to, took Washington to the title game. There's cool s- about this guy. Stuff happens around him. Everyone puts that on McCarthy. This is the guy they should be talking about in that light." www.si.com/nfl/2024/04/19/2024-nfl-draft-quarterbacks-case-study-top-prospects

Penix really hurt his stock in the championship game as he looked absolutely awful, on one pass missing a wide open WR which could have turned the game around. Combined with his injury history despite the great arm, he appears to the QB of the top 6 with the highest risk. I would only consider him if we whiffed on the other 5 and it was at pick 23.

The injury issues concern me a bit, but overall I donβt have a problem with Penix. I think heβs a much better scheme fit for us than Danielβs.
What I donβt like is the thought of OβNeil blocking his backsideβ¦that would be a real problem. It also raises the question if you pay Darrisaw the money heβs going to deserve as a top LT to βNotβ block the backside. But overallβ¦ I have no issues with the guy and if we donβt have to trade upβ¦. Even better!!

To be clear, while I stated Danielβs isnβt a perfect fit, by no means am I saying he isnβt going to be good or even good with us. Personally I think he may wind up being the best QB in this draft.
My point wasnβt to say he isnβt good or that I wouldnβt be happy if we took him, just that his strengths and weaknesses donβt fit in perfectly with what weβve seen KOC want to do thus far in both LA and Minny and heβd have to change some things up or Daniels would have to greatly improve some things for it to work.
So far, KOC has not really been willing to bend his schemes much to accommodate talentsβ¦ so it remains a ? if heβd adjust his scheme to help Daniels have more success.

I think KOC would excel and enjoy bending his scheme for a guy like Daniels.
The only evidence I have heard referred to that he can not or isn't willing was the Dobbs stint. That is a faulty argument that was thrown out on this board.
NFL offenses are to complicated to make major overhauls midseason. Especially with a new guy that is just learning the playbook language. Hard enough to get Dobbs up to speed it would have been impossible to teach a new system to all the other offensive players to incorporate Dobbs. Besides Dobbs isn't very good.

Red i will give you credit for considering things like 'fit' and 'lefthanded'. That said Vikings need to be careful NOT to overthink things like that and create Roadblocks for themselves.
If Penix has the arm talent scouts say and KOC likes his game it would be stupid to pass on him and watch him excel elsewhere with a team that was willing to tweak some things. Same thing with Daniels.
