That is the concern. IMO it has to be weighed. Vikings will have to decide to what degree. If the Viking training staff gives Penix the thumbs up I can see the Vikings going Jackson-Powell or Murphy Jr and 11 and drafting Penix 23. They could roll into the season a pretty strong roster with Darnold and Penix the developing signal callers.
Penix is also an older prospect so I don't know what the Vikings think of that.
Both ACLs if I recall correctly and some shoulder issues. But healthy for two years.
Terry Allen had both ACL's repaired early and had a long career so who knows?
Of Note Penix lead the nation in passing yards/game in 2022 and 2023 while going 25-3 including 3-0 against Bo Nix.

With the Broncos and Raiders drafting directly behind the Vikings, Iโm not certain that Penix Jr. drops to pick 23.

Penix is more impressive to me than most of the top 4. I watched a lot of his games and he can sling it with the best. Most coaches are only around for a max of 5 to 6 years anyway so I doubt they care if Penix is 24 years old. I get the injury history as well, but in my opinion he should go top 10 in any draft.

I honestly thought he looked 'beaten' by the end of the Michigan game. That concerned me but it happens to good QBs when they are overwhelmed with pressure.
The game Penix put together in the Semi finals against Texas was the best performance I saw from a QB in 2023.
So when you talk about a players ceiling I have already seen Penix play at a 'higher' level than a LOT of QBs and QB prospects. Is it something he can replicate???

Not a fan of Penix and would not want him on the Vikings. Injuries are one thing, but having two ACL injuries is not really a fluke, IMO. It's more of a fluke that Terry Allen had made himself a career after having them.
Something about Penix I cannot put my finger on yet, but what I do know is my gut says to stay away.

JaMarcus Russell come to mind?

He's just not a first round QB I'd want, IMO. The injuries, the superior talent he had around him playing no real defenses until the title game where he looked like ass.... yeah I don't see it. I'll hope he turns into a star if we do pick him but I just won't get my hopes up for it.
