OβNeil is not better than most. Heβs the most overhyped Vikings player since Kyle Rudolph. Iβm not saying IβNeil is bad but he in no way shape or form is elite. Darrisaw had an off year, but has the skill set to be eliteβ¦OβNeil does not. He gets overwhelmed by speed rushers. Top 10 RT is better than most RT's. I wouldnβt rate him a top 10 RT. As to Penix, I think heβs a talented passer. I just think the combo of his injury history mixed with him being a lefty complicates things.

Washington Huskies won the Joe Moore Award last season for having the best offensive line in college football. Penix Jr. wonβt have that with the Vikings. I would say that most of us here on the Board are tougher on the line play for the Vikings' Offense than the general consensus rating in NFL writers/pubs. IMHO-Line is not horrid lately, but could be improved!

Your PFF Simulator has More trading back (#29?...aka Slick Rick!) and getting Penix at a very appropriate slot. It would be good to have lots of picks like that, and several guys I like are in it...Barton, Sweat, Mahogany, and McCaffrey!
Seems too good to be true! I am hopeful they retain at least 7 of the 9 eligible picks this draft, Including any QB.

A college football coach told The Athleticβs Bruce Feldman that Michael Penix has the βelite arm talentβ in the 2024 quarterback class. Feldman spoke with college and NFL coaches granted anonymity so they could speak freely on evaluations of the 2024 draftβs top players, including Penix, who has had several top-30 visits after an excellent pro day. βHis arm talent is as good as Iβve ever seen. He can throw every single ball on a rope,β another coach told Feldman. βYou watch them and thereβs so much tape where youβre just blown away by all the throws heβs making into windows and with the touch he has. And heβs just so accurate on all these big throws. He also didnβt need much room to throw it. The people around him didnβt even faze him.β The coach added that Penixβs ability to manipulate defenses is βhigh-level stuff.β Penix, who turns 24 in May, struggled with injuries during his time at Indiana before transferring to Washington two years ago. His psychical evaluation checked out OK, however, and he could be taken in Day One if his draft stock continues to rise. Feldman mocked Penix to the Raiders.

The Vikings will get Penix Jr. at pick 11 and say that he was the guy they wanted all along.

Penix does come with an injury concern. Yes he is a lefty and that does require some changes and adjustment. He does have an unorthodox delivery which makes his release point a bit lower.
Penix arm talent is outstanding, obvious and undeniable. Just turn on the tape. He has Huge hands and throws piss missiles.
Taking Penix at 11 or even above that would not be a reach.

Penix was a blast to watch this season and I can definitely see his game translating to the Vikings offense. That being said, I don't think he is the Vikings target. When we added that 2nd first round pick it became clear we are after someone who is expected to get drafted in the top five. Who that is remains to be seen.
