1 - 0 Reds. Pineda struggling early on. Make it 2-0 until the Twins got a run back in the bottom of the 1st on a Arraez double and Cruz RBI single.

Pineda gave up a 2 out slap to the opposite field single but stranded the runner getting the last out.
Another reason why it would have been wise to keep Beetle Bailey round is that Pineda's velocity on his FB is way down from last year (95-97 whereas this year he's at 91-92). In his 3rd inning of work, Beetle cranked it up to 94-95. Mind you that was after missing 1 1/2 months due to a biceps strain.

Kepler with a great play in RF. Fielded a ball the Reds hitter drilled high off the wall that looked to be a sure double but threw the runner out at 2nd. Pineda issued a BB afterward but got of the inning.

Cubs up 5-2. If the Cubs hold on and the Twins can win tonight, they clinch the division title. If they win out, they can grab the #2 seed.

Kepler doing his thing on both sides of he diamond. Just drilled a gapper to RC which initially looked like he might be able to leg out for a triple but the CF made a nice play to hold him to a lead off double. Arraez followed with double that hit the base of the LF wall and kind of got stuck there driving in Kepler and Rosario nailed one off the RC wall that nearly went out driving in Arraez getting yet another double. Double-rama!
Twins up 3-2.

LaMonte Wade and Edwar Colina optioned. Luis Arraez returns from the IL, and Devin Smeltzer called up. So the Twins outright Beetle Bailey for release, who had a decent but short lived 2nd outing but has valuable PO experience, to call up El Gordo Cerdo and he gets immediately optioned out in favor of Smelzer (1 of the Twins' relievers who I've been ragging on all season)?? What the H E double hockey sticks is wrong with Baldeli and the GM? I assume there is more to this story that we may or may not hear about. Bailey was out a long time, was he healthy or did something happen in his last game?

He just lost it in the 4th not that it had anything to do with his velocity, it was mainly his command of his breaking ball and CU (that's the pitch that was getting hit).

Marwin with a double to left (again going opposite field which I've been harping about), advanced to 3rd on a nubber to the P and scored on a WP. That's a way to manufacture a run that's equally effective as a solo HR that the Twins have relied on too much IMO.
Twins now up 4-2.

I stand corrected. Baldeli brings in Clippard which I think was a good idea.

Clippard did his job retiring the Reds in order with nothing hit hard even though the plate ump really squeezed the strike zone on some of his pitches.

Kepler with a lead off double to almost the exact spot as his last one. Arraez hits a nearly identical double to LF that hits the base of the wall. Now 5-2 but should be 6-2. Rosario hit a drive to LC that nearly went out but the Reds LF caught at the wall. Arraez should have tagged and advanced to 3rd. If he had, the next hitter hit a squib grounder to 2nd that would have easily scored him.
As an aside it's been raining for the last 3 innings. This game could get called on account of the rain if it starts coming down harder but with the Twins ahead thru 5 (after this inning) they would get the win.
