Do-Hyoung Park @dohyoungpark 17s
The #MNTwins have selected the contract of Edwar Colina, the No. 16 prospect in the organization. Homer Bailey has been designated for assignment.
Colina is eligible for the postseason. I'm told he's able to take Bailey's spot in the 40-man playoff player pool.

He played for my local MLB team (Reds) and never seemed to put it all together. Similar to another former Twins pitcher. (Kyle Gibson)

Beetle was signed because he's a vet with post-season experience. Took awhile but he gradually increased his velocity (FB 93-94 mph), good breaking pitches, above average control and looked good his 1st 3 innings before running into probs in the 4th. Why get rid of him on the eve of the PO's if one of the other starters comes up lame and struggles?
Colina's minor league stats show that he walks 1/2 as many as he SO. Viewed a couple of clips on Youtube. Short, stocky pitcher (5'11", 240) with thick legs, short throwing motion and nowhere near his purported "103 mph" velocity. Slider (main out pitch) is very inconsistent.

I'm guessing he is hurt.

Twins loaded the bass but as they've been wont to do stranding them as Buxton and Sano SO chased pitches out of the zone.
The Reds played it the traditional way (infield back looking to turn 2 particularly their 3B) with Buxton at the plate. Why not play "small ball' and lay down a bunt or at least fake one to draw the inf. in?

Marwin with a another great catch running down a short flare into C to make a diving catch. He is so good defensively where ever he plays. Saved 2 hits in 2 innings.

Berrios turning it loose tonight firing his FB at 96-97 (as opposed to 93 early in a game as he tries to "pace" himself). Issued a harmless BB after being up 0-2 in the count (3 FB's just missed bc it had late movement on them).

Someone mail Josh Donaldson some stem cells. Twins announcers just said it was a "cramp" in his calf again. Why the trainers aren't loading him up on Gatorade (or the equivalent) to keep him hydrated is beyond me.
