This is an important 3 game series against the Tribe. Twins only up 1 1/2 games over them and 2 on the suddenly resurgent Pale Hose.
Twins have Maeda going in game 1, Berrios in game 3 with Rich Hill who looked like crap his last outing sandwiched in between. Hopefully they can take 2 out of 3 to extend their lead. If not, their lead will shrink to a 1/2 game.

Cruz with an opposite field solo HR to RF to tie the score in the 4th. Guess he been listening to this "whisperer".
1-1 top of the 4th.

Pitchers duel thru the 1st 5. Rosario hit a shot mid way up the C filed wall for a double and Sano followed with...
wait for it....
wait for some more (humming Jeopardy tune)...
an opposite field 2 run HR.
This is what I've been preaching for weeks. Both Cruz and Sano have been trying to pull everything but have been pitched hard inside then the pitchers work them with breaking stuff away. Just go with where the ball is thrown and with their power, if they hit it solidly, they can get doubles and HRs with ease going the opposite way.
3-1 Twins

Thielbar in for the bottom of the 6th. Personally, I would have left Maeda in (pitch count was 83 but he went 115 in his bid for a no-hitter) to build up his arm strength for rest of the season and playoffs.
Thielbar got out of jam giving up 2 hits but getting a SO for the final out. Has decent stuff (93-92 mph FB no movement on it however), big breaking curve ball (struggled with control until the final out) and a mediocre change up.

Indians new reliever (Perez) is a big tall guy with a bunch of different types of delivery. He raises his leg, pauses then raises it again before coming to the plate. He also turns his back to a hitter ala Luis Tiant to hide the ball before making the pitch. Throws pitches from several different angles (over the top to 3/4 style). Really tough for hitters to figure him out and time his pitches.
Kepler was the only one to get on base smacking a hard single but was erased on an inning ending DP.

May in for the 7th. Lead off hitter spanked a single on his crummy off speed stuff. Struggles with his control with a runner on having to use a slide step to the plate. Still has usual velocity (97 on his FB), hung a few sliders out over the plate that got him into trouble on 2 hard hit balls (one a liner straight to Kepler) before giving up a soft single up the middle off yet another hanging change up scoring 1 run. Managed to get out of the inning on SO after falling behind 2-0.
May is basically a 1 trick pony (above average FB but straight as string). Useful as a set up guy for the 6th or 7th.
3-2 Twins going into the 8th.

Romo gave up a double but held the Tribe at bay.
Still 3-2 going into the 9th.

Rogers in to get the save against the top of the order for the Tribe. Needs to be aggressive, not just showing hitters 1 FB and going exclusively with breaking stuff. Spot the FB early (inside and out) and throw it again late in the count.
Gave up 1 harmless flare single to RC with 2 outs to Lindor but recorded the save.
Twins 3-2 final.

I couldn't see any tag on Arraez at home plate. But reviewed and still called out.

Josh Donaldson (calf) has been taking at-bats in intrasquad games at the Twins' alternate training site.
Twins manager Rocco Baldelli told reporters on Tuesday that there should soon be more clarity on a potential return date for the start third baseman and added that he is "tracking really well." Donaldson has been on the injured list since August 7, retroactive to August 4, because of a strained right calf.

Announcers of last night's game said this is he 4th time Donaldson has been on the IL for a strained calf muscle over the years. Chronic injury that got aggravated while playing defense in the 2nd inning the game he last played.

Tonight's match up (game just started) is not good for the Twins. Facing off against Shane Bieber (top MLB pitcher this year, both leagues) with a 5-0 record, WHIP around .75, 1.11 ERA, 65K's in 40 innings and struck out 13 Twins in his last outing against us. Going to be tough to beat him especially with Rich Hill on the mound for us who was terrible his last outing.
Bieber retired the side with 2 SO's although he gave up 1 hit.
Hill, OTOH, gave up a hit with 1 out who promptly steals 2nd and third because Hill has such a long, slow delivery. With a 3-0 count, Twins pitched to Santana who nailed a screaming line drive destined to at least hit the LF wall but it hooked foul (Hill's FB is only 88-89 tonight). Santana then drilled a single thru the hole to plate 1 run.
I would have put Santana on to create a force play.
Next hitter crushed a ball to the LF corner but was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double. Not a good start for Hill, the Tribe are hammering his pitches and stealing bases on him at will.
But, despite getting up 3 hits, Twins are only down 1-0.
Baldeli will need to have someone up in the BP as early as next inning.
