Another run home after issuing a BB followed by a double. Alcala's slider just wasn't working and the velocity on his FB was a tick down tonight (96 v. 98-99 every outing previously).
Tribe up 4-2.

Twins go down in order in the 9th.
Final, 4-2 Tribe. Twins had a golden opportunity to take this game due to Bieber's struggles but let it slip through fingers.
Oh well. On to the next game.

Kepler stakes the Twins to a 1-0 with a solo lead off HR.
Clevinger for the Tribe, Berrios going for the Twins.

3 hits overall and 1 BB but the Twins only come away with 1.
Rosario bluffed going on a hit-and-run on a 2-2 count, Marwin laced a single to short RF. Rosario went ahead and tried to advance to 3rd but was easily thrown out. If he had gone on the pitch, he would have made it and been safe.

Berrios with a shaky 1st inning. 1 H, 2 BB's but managed to hold the Tribe scoreless.

Twins 2-0. Sano laced a double to LC that went to the wall, yet barely made it safe to 2nd. Wade followed with a broken bat single to short RF but the throw to the plate (offline) was cut off allowing Sano to score.
Clevinger is having problems with control and leaving a lot of breaking balls up in the zone. FB is a tick below his usual velocity (95 tonight, 97 previously).

Berrios with a much better 2nd inning. Retired the Tribe on 3 easy FO's. Has good, late movement on his FB (94) and his cutter/slider also shows good break. Biggest difference is that he got ahead in the count unlike the 1st.

Fark. Berrios hung a slider up in the zone with 2 aboard and gives up a 3 run HR that barely cleared the wall in RF.
Tribe up 3-2.

Berrios strikes out the side after a leadoff soft single to C that Cave dove for but couldn't make the catch.
One thing I haven't mentioned previously is that Berrios bulked up over the off season. He has "guns" (biceps much bigger along with his forearms). Also, must have hit the leg press machine as his lower body is also bigger/stronger.
Throwing 2 different kinds of FB's (1 with late movement that he usually throws about 93 and his 95 mph is pretty much straight as string but he spots it effectively both sides of the plate). His cutter/slider is still what he thinks is out pitch with an occasional CU but he needs to use his FB more.

After a rocky 1st 2 innings, Clevinger has settled down and is in a groove now. Spotting his FB better (up to 96) to set up his cutter/slider. Twins helping him but swinging at the breaking stuff low and outside and on his high FB at or above the letters. Varying the elevation makes it tough on hitters. THAT'S what Berrios needs to do more of. He rarely goes upstairs.

Baldeli pulled Berrios with 2 on and 2 out (mainly I think bc Berrios' pitch count was 105). Clippard came in to get the final out.

Adrianza came in to PH for Wade and hit a wicked deep fly ball about 1/2 way up the CF wall that the Indians were lucky that the ball carommed off the ball right to their RF to hold him to a double. Avila moved him over to 3rd on a medium deep FO to RC before Cave blooped a single just over the drawn in infielders that that dropped in for a single to plate the run. Pitch before Cave lined an opposite field screamer that just barely missed hitting the chalk. Good AB by Cave.
3-3 going into the bottom of the 7th.

Duffey came in and threw 9 pitches (all strikes) recording 2 SO's against the Indians' top of their order. Now that's efficiency. Would love to see the Twins hand him the ball for the 8th as well.

Twins go down in order top of the 8th although Cruz drove a ball to dead C that went to the wall caught by the Indians CF. If that had gone to LC, it would have been a tie breaking HR.
