A LOT of people keep mentioning the draft capital without considering the money savings appropriately. FA is open for us, this year, next year, and the year after!!!! I think some years you go for it and this year was perfectly set up to do that. The McCarthy boy is very talented and Turner has legit D rookie of the year potential.

I'm happy with the pick; not the trade up, but the pick. I believe we didn't need to trade up; Kwesi just can't help himself; it is what it is.
I understand the move up for Turner; as it was said; "there were going to be quality picks there at #23 no matter what", but this is the guy they targeted, and there You're ok with what we gave up to move from 23 to 17 using the logic that that was the guy they targeted, but moving up from 11 to 10 (Denver took the last remaining QB at 12) was unnecessary? It's very possible DEN was on the phone with the Jets too. I would be upset if we missed out on 'Our guy' because of a 4th + 5th round for a 6th round swap.

I think the negative post about JJM 'not enthused to be a Viking' was likely because he said he expected to be drafted by the Giants. He likes their staff and had two visits there.
But right after he said that, he also said going to the Vikings would be "IDEAL"!

So Pat McAfee had Bill Belicheck on his set for the entire 1st round and Bill got Sean Payton on the phone after the the Nix pick. Payton said things got spicy after the Pennix selection because the Broncos, Vikings and Raiders all knew who each other wanted. He commented on the Vikings move up as us making good on that agreement.

Lol...had Simms been drinking? What's with the close-talking and slow and loud speech? haha

He stated we all had a wink nod understanding of who we each wanted. We had JJ rated highly. The Broncos loved Nix as advertised, and the Raiders had Pennix high on their board. All three teams (from Payton's words) understood Williams and Daniels were out, Maye most likely too, and these teams figured they were OK just chilling for their guy.
We blocked the Raiders out, the Jets made their pick and Denver's guy fell to them.

One stat that I like that many in here should be excited about is that JJ McCarthy was #1 in college football on third downs with a 48% conversion rate.

It might have been the massive high five with his dad? Or the kiss of his girlfriend? Or jumping up, clapping his hands together several times, putting on the hat and hugging everyone in the room? I just can't decide which of those actions showcased the greatest level of disappointment.
