I don't know what we'll be this year, but paying Kirk a ton of money to be mediocre wasn't the answer and was never going to change. It was time for a reboot and feels like with these two picks we're already on the right track.

Still 8-8 is best we can hope for? Yeah! great draft..... Only hope is improving the D. JJM has some A Rodgers in his game

OK, Seems everyone love JJ here, I hope that turns out to be great for the Vikings! My opinion, which I'm sure many disagree with, is that Penix would be the best target for the Vikings. We got a rookie level "Cousins" that we hope will become a mature Cousins? What exactly did we do to get better? not a rookie level Cousins. Similar size and IMO arm talent to Cousins. But more mobile, and much more βit factorβ / intangibles - most importantly not locking up when the pressure gets high but in fact improving.

The confidence, the quick processing and instincts and field reading during the playβ¦. Not the arm talent that Rodgers has IMO (but he is young and his arm will get stronger for a few more years)β¦. But the mobility and displayed instinctsβ¦

Hmm. Looks like Atlanta already has "Buyer's Remorse".

If we get a cousins who is Mobile, thatβs amazing. Especially since he has shown he can be clutch in the biggest games.

Heβs obviously got to live up to the hype but he was the 1st-2nd best scheme fit for the Vikings. Very happy we landed him and didnβt give up 1sts to get him!!!!
I know luck played a bit of a role, but well done to the front office for not overpaying and panicking! I think heβs the best X/O QB in this draft and he and KOC should be a perfect match.
As far as arm strengthβ¦. I donβt get anyoneβs concernβ¦ if anything his flaw is he has a tendency to throw layers all the time instead of throwing with touch more often. There is zero issue with arm strength. Hopefully KOC can help him realize you throw the ball differently depending on the situation. No need to make a catch for your WRβs challenging when you donβt need to.

I'm happy with the pick; not the trade up, but the pick. I believe we didn't need to trade up; Kwesi just can't help himself; it is what it is.
I understand the move up for Turner; as it was said; "there were going to be quality picks there at #23 no matter what", but this is the guy they targeted, and there was no way he was going to make it to #23; so the move up made sense.
I just hope they don't do any more moves to sell out the future; just sit on your hands the rest of the way, and be happy with what we got.
We've got 5 lower picks left; let it be, and see who falls to our 4th round pick.
It's going to be a boring day today, but I'd rather have that; then seeing them shell out more future picks. Maybe they can trade Mullens for another 6th-7th rounder.

I don't know, Seriously JJ seemed disappointed at best to be a Viking. Needs to come around big time. Best thing is that the Vikings didn't invest much draft capital to get him. Looking forward to the 23 pick! Uh ok? Watched the video of him hearing the pick. Not sure what you were watching but ok then.

Biggest asset is he is not going to take a Kirk Cousins share of the pay roll for at least 4 years. Face it Cousins was not the problem heading into the 2 play off drives, a defense that could not stop a toddler from the candy dish was.

The arm strength thing is just smoke and mirrors.
McCarthy has plenty of arm. He threw the second hardest ball at the combine 1mph less than Milton who has a howitzer.
His touch could improve but he is 21. Elway had a cannon and never did learn to put touch on underneath stuff. Vance Johnson and company said they just learned how to catch it.

He's the youngest of the guys drafted I believe. He can sit for a year and develop and that imo will be best for him and for the team.

Turner and JJM are both 21. Both have HUGE upsides.
KAM and KOC played this perfectly. Signing Darnold to allow JJM time to learn was a great move.
One way to look at it is like this. Pay Cousins 36 years old Pay Hunter 30 years old (and yes I am a huge fan)
Or Draft JJM 21 and Turner 21 while freeing up oogles of CASH.
A LOT of people keep mentioning the draft capital without considering the money savings appropriately. FA is open for us, this year, next year, and the year after!!!!
