It is ok and pretty much par for the course to be a bad scout of QBs. Seems like everyone is or it is true what Kurt Warner says 'nobody can really measure what matters, which is the ability to process loads of info lightning quick.' I listen to Warner, Orlovsky and Chris Simms. Seems like those guys have as good a track record as anyone and they all 'miss.' What becomes amusing is guys who 'are sure they are right, and Know how to project them.' It is fun to do and I think we all get our favorites but it remains such an inexact process. If Im a scout I look at the ability to read defenses, ability to process gobs of info quickly and to see open WRs first. I look at which QB will fit my system next. Take a look at the plethora of freakishly athletic QBs that are bombing. The system a QB gets put in(along with quality of HC) is at least 1/3 of what the future outcome for how the QB turns out. Stick Mahomes on the Jets or Panthers he is nowhere near the QB he is now I guarantee. Football is still a team sport. You need to fit the right players with the right systems. The question is which QB this year is the best fit for KOCs system?

I agree with a lot of that cerebus54.
Warner says the problem is they have not come up with a way to adequately measure how fast QBs can process a load of information and pull the trigger. College defenses are such a HUGE step down from NFL defenses they don't even have the required tape to look at.
Also fans tend to pigeon hole systems. Take KOC. Is his system completely and accurately defined. Or do a lot of Viking fans think of the KOC system as being the one he used to help Cousins be better?
Good post though. Inexact science for sure.

I really like J.T.'s takes, but I was disappointed in watching this as he didn't share any video to back up his claims visually with us and frankly, I fell asleep. He states that game film is the only way to assess, but didn't show anything as backup to his comments. I like to look at video broken down by different people (especially J.T.) so I can understand what they see and learn from a different perspective or see something that I may have missed or don't necessarily care about as much. IMO, breaking down video is an art and something that I wish our coaches did for kids at a younger age in sports. So many people learn visually and being told one thing and where to be and what to do doesn't work inside their heads until they see it. Yes, they can watch games themselves, but breaking down film can help open the perspective and understanding of the game even more. And I wasn't sure I was following his thought process because at the beginning of the video he mentioned Daniels and Penix as the two guys he would draft today, but then ranked them, even though he claims he doesn't like rankings and says Williams, Daniels, JJM, Maye, then Penix. Not sure I understand that philosophy because if he believes in those two so heavily, then they should be 1 and 2, no?

Nix or Penix at 23 Plus keeping 11 is less reach and more draft capital damage control than going all out up to 4 for JJ or Maye.
KOC can work with either PAC 12 guy whom due to pandemic and portal are both lots of starts and older.

This franchiseβs curse found a way to break both Brett Favre and Kirk Cousins.
Penix doesnβt stand a chance in hell.
