Not going to go back and find the posts but I was a fan of Stroud and posted I would take him if I had to pick a QB in 23. So fdar he is looking like a solid QB prospect and I think he is ahead of Young and Richaredson.
Year before I said worst QB draft in decades, avoid all of them...
What's the point? the be all, end all, can't miss prospects simply do not exist, avoid the hype train that is spun up every spring.

I thought young would be a stud and stroud would be a dud. But I would bet the proverbial farm on Caleb Williams being a stud.

Over the past 20 years of 1st overall QB's... - 3 Seem great - Lawrence, Burrow and Capt. Andrew Luck - 4 seem like average NFL starters in Stafford, Goff, Newton and Eli Manning - 6 seems like they set the franchise back with Jamarcus Russell, Bradford, Alex Smith, Winston, Mayfield and Murray - 1 yet to be determined - Bryce Young
IMO - I think the odds of finding a 15+ year franchise QB with the #1 overall pick is overrated in almost every year.
We could expand this exercise out to top 10; but without doing the research, I'm guessing that the hit rate won't change much.

thank you both for supporting what i have said all along, it would be foolish to dump Kirk and trade the best WR in the league in hopes we can draft a QB and be a winner, we have enough pieces to compete if we fix the damn line play, and we have enough cap and picks (considering that anything outside of the second round is a dart throw at best) to do that.

Even though Kirk throws a great ball and is made of stone... I still have concerns that KC doesn't have it between the ears to do the mental things to win the game like call audibles, clock the ball without instructions, exploit blitzes, feel the pressure, hold onto the ball, etc... With a legit top 10 QB the Vikings should have beaten both the Bucs and the Chargers... and he made the Panthers game way closer than it needed to be.

True. But with an aging QB it's vital to keep searching.
What drives me crazy is the trading down philosophy in early rounds. I just can't logically comprehend such a flawed concept. While every team in the NFL is taking top quality talent, the Vikes are purposely avoiding it.

Stroud is for real. Now the Texans just to keep from ruining him.
Richardson is starting to show he could be for real too.
I am wary of Williams. I donβt think he is such a fabulous prospect as most do.

I am as sure about Williams as I was about Andrew Luck and those are the only 2 QBs I was positive about coming out of college in the last 20 years. BTW I very much dislike USC.

I don't think a sack against a blitz counts in the rating, it's only if a thrown ball is completed. Could be wrong on that though.

PFF MIN Vikings @pff_Vikings Β· 4h Kirk Cousins vs the blitz this year π£ 36/52 (69.2%) π£ 357 passing yards π£ 7 TDs (1st), 0 INTs π£ 128.0 passer rating (2nd)

Not sure that proves the point about him holding the ball too long, fumbling, calling audibles or clocking the ball.
