So, apparently, a whole lot of posters on the board with frickin' pissed if the Vikes draft any QB in this draft - regardless of method to get him! They all suck and next year (again) is way better and we have a way to get one then? I find it amusing as hell that another gaggle of posters (not mutually exclusive) are always threatening and warning about the moving on downfalls from Kirk. I personally don't miss any Vikings QB from the past as none was at the helm of a great championship season. Father Time is undefeated! Change happens. Let the Vikings QB position develop. It still is in Chicago and Green Bay in the same division. I just don't want a piece of junk draftee like a Treadwell or Underwood! No bizarre shock reaches. No TE or OT just because they were top on the board when each spot is already 2-3 deep. (I had to do it on this ### post!) I am not lumping you in this group but I find it amusing a group of posters obsess about dumping KC at all costs. However when it comes time to put themselves out there and layout a plan via draft, free agency or player trades, are too chicken shit to do so. If you dont have the conviction to put yourself out there its kind of hard to take your opinion seriously. Going to be even harder if someone who has beaten the dump KC horse to death comes on tonight after the Vikes trade up for a QB. To complain about MN giving up too much But didn't have the courage to put out there what they would have given up. I think most of the people you claim are totally opposed to move on from KC are more than happy to . But not mortgaging the future this year for an unknown at a position with a crazy high bust rate. If they earned the number 3 pick this year Id be thrilled if they went QB. Or depending on the board dropped down a few spots and still took QB. Do I want them to blow the next three 1st round picks and who knows what else to move up in a weak QB class this year? Nope. JMO Id prefer they focus on defense this draft and give up the picks next draft. The top 2 guys in 2024 are leaps and bounds better than this class.

Injuries happen and other things.

It’s really simple….
We are the winningest franchise in all of professional football that have not won a SB and it is not even close.
We have HOF players at nearly every position and have failed at securing the most important position in the game which is QB,
We NEVER trade the farm to get the highest rated guy. Rather we take someone else’s leftovers and cross our fingers that somehow they will be something they are not with us.
Why is this so complicated? Be a Howie Roseman and spend all of your capital year after year to try and find that guy and you have a chance to get to 2 Super Bowls in 6 years with 2 different QB’s and 2 different Head Coaches. Meanwhile we can’t get back to the dance since 1977.
Geez…

I just don't like taking a QB until you really need one. With KC and the other vets still with the team and coming off a 13 win season (even if a bit a fluke) I think we still try to field the best team and take our shot.
GB screwed up their window with Rodgers searching for his replacement early rather than giving him immediate help...lets not do that.

The Vikings handed complete control over to Kirk for 24' and beyond so unlike Rodgers he is not under a long term deal. Maybe it is better to start dealing with the future today until waiting until they have no options whatsoever.

We don't really have the capital to move up and we have too many holes with too few picks. A QB picked high a luxury that would make the 2023 season a waste. IMHO...

I not sure 1 year out would qualify as “early” Love is entering his 4th year in the league one year away from Cousins being a free agent. I see your point on Love being premature... but then I have a bad feel that he's going to be an upgrade

What is an acceptable give to move up to take one of the top guys that wont have you running to the board immediately after calling for Kwesi's head?

He did that once in 2016 for Wentz . four years later he used a 2nd round pick, 53rd overall, on a QB, Hurts. So the lesson in Roseman as an example would be to not "trade the farm" but to draft a lower rated guy.

I am no scout; but, if you see a Patrick Mahomes (like KC did)... you do whatever you have to do to get him. Rick used his 2017 round 1 pick for a broken down Sam Bradford, when he could have used it to move up only a few spots to get Patrick Mahomes. Hindsight is 20/20, but man, that trade looks worse and worse as time goes on.
