Its too bad we wasted a 2nd round pick on Ingakoue, there is no way he will stick around after this sh!t show I was thinking that earlier. Oh well, after we draft Lawrence and sit him for first year, we can build trenches following 2 years. Plus by year 3 we should get better cap situation if we move guys now for picks. What GM and Coach are going to do all of this? Not Zimmer and Spielman that's for sure.

The Vikings are so stupid for Cousins, if they did have the first pick, they would trade it and forever regret it and it would send all the viking fans to an early grave

We were set up nicely to rebuild from top down and make our cap healthy again. We let coaches go whose contracts expired and we had both GM and HC on last year of contract. We had added draft picks both this year and next and the opportunity to let older veterans the opportunity to play for a championship, giving us cap space to rollover. Then the Wilifs let the organization blow up our cap structure putting more money into QB and into safeties who play in the back of the field. Then think the Wilifs got scared and last minute resigned Rick and Zimmer. This confidence then allowed them to overspend more not just money but a 2nd round pick that likely will walk and make our star DE feel more angrier about his contract. Not even going into Kubiak and Packers old coach Capers while they hire Grey for their DBs. Both coaches are old school guys that do not seem to change with the times. Kubiak and our offense early last year was dreadful and changed as Kevin got more comfortable. This year we are back to dreadful.

They donβt have to loose for Lawrence this team is just that bad . It's sure hard to see many wins, given what's happened these first two weeks. One thing to keep in mind about accepting as many losses as possible this year to improve draft position: it's not only about Lawrence. It's about having a better draft position in every round. That said, I sincerely doubt that these guys will go into any game trying to lose. They're pros, they have pride. BUT, if one has no confidence in management, coaches and the overall team, it's really easy not to have quite as much focus during tape review. Once they've gone 0-7 or thereabouts, their desire simply will prevent them from turning things around. Out of the vets on this team, to me, only Kendricks and Hunter on defense and O'Neill on offense are absolute keepers, maybe Gladney and Jefferson.

The idea of getting the #1 pick didn't see remotely plausible before the season, and even people who weren't sold on this team as a playoff contending team believed they be around .500.
What we've seen from the Vikings in the first two weeks is clearly one of the two worst teams in football. The Jets being the other team in that conversation.
Here's the thing..............unlike other times when things got sideways, Zimmer isn't going to be able to fix it this time. Too many areas that represent trouble spots either to due injury, inexperience, or lack of talent.
Spielman didn't do a good job in the offseason addressing weaknesses, and both GM and HC put too much stock into Kubiak's (and Dennison's) ability to produce results with this group of player. Zimmer was probably over-confident in his ability to bring these young CB's up to speed.
At present the team isn't competitive, and while they will probably makes some improvements in the weeks to come, they're going to have to make huge strides to get to say, 5 wins this season.
This is a franchise that never reaches the pinnacle of success, and never is bad enough to garner a top 2 pick in the draft that could bring them a franchise QB. This may be the year that this changes.
Players and coaches will not "Lose for Lawrence" or "Tank for Trevor". Zimmer is probably safe for another year with his extension but you have assistants who don't want to be let go and players who are in the same boat. Still, you have to believe that this teams' confidence is greatly shaken and one gets the feeling watching these first two games that this season could be one of the worst in franchise history. I know that's too early to say but I have to go back to the 84' team to see such ineptitude on both sides of the football. That was a season where the Vikings were regularly losing games by 3 or more scores. Very early in the season but this is what we're currently seeing.
Yeah, I'm ok with this team vying for a chance to FINALLY draft a franchise QB. The last time they did so was in 1961, unless we're being generous and putting Culpepper in that category. The trajectory of this franchise needs to change.

Do you really think Zimmer and Spielman would take Lawrence? Vs trading it for bunch of picks and a LB or DT. They may want to spend 200 million of the Wilfs money trying to prove they were right about KC.

This is the one time that ownership may actually have to intervene and take the car keys away from the teenagers. The blow back from fans if they have an opportunity to draft a franchise QB and stay with Cousins would hit them severely in the court of public opinion and more importantly in the pocket book. The Wilfs may not be the most of savvy of NFL owners, but they understand fundamental business principles. They don't pull the trigger on a franchise QB if given the opportunity and they will lose fans and revenues. The GM can like it or leave, and take the head coach with him.

Since we have to start over and need many parts start with QB....a good qb can make average o better. Our last sustained success over seasons was with fran......
