If a fan wants this team to tank, then just get the F out right now. You never EVER cheer for a team to tank. Theres no guarantee Lawrence will be a success either. He could be a flop in the wrong system or suffer from a major injury and not recover from it. Kirk wasn't the problem on Sunday and anyone who thinks so doesn't know shit about football I couldn't disagree more. Sometimes you have to sacrifice the now for what you want later, if what you want later can't be achieved now. I want to date a hot super model. Should i just continue to eat cheetos, lay on the couch and pound on fuglys, or sacrifice the now, mix in a salad, and maybe jog a little for the hope of a better tomorrow. There is still no guarantee that if I change my ways im getting that super model, but i know beyond certainty that by doing what i have been for the last decade I have no chance at all. Hey cheetos and 2s may be just fine for some and thats ok, but I want that 10, or at least the hope of getting that 10. The difference in your example is there is no basic agreed upon principles to get the hot girl. If you want to stay single and be fat, you can - without impacting anyone else (lose) or you can jog/eat a salad and drop weight (win), but in sports, if you join a league, you agree to compete, try to win, and give it your all. When that unspoken part of gamesmanship is broken, you don't have a functioning league

If people want to live their life as a groomsman and never the groom, thatβs fine. If you never want to be the best, thatβs also fine.
No one should bash anyone who wants to be the groom or win championships.
There is a blueprint to win in the NFL. Itβs pretty simple.
The Vikes can try to re-invent the wheel and zigzag their way to try and win a championship. Other teams will try the straight line to do it. That starts and ends with the Franchise QB.
The Vikes are becoming a minority of teams that have never won a SB. They have been around for almost 60 years. The way they have been operating clearly has not worked. Maybe try a different strategy....maybe?

I have been a fan for over 50 years, I cheer just as hard today as I every have, I have been accused many times as someone wearing purple glasses. Even when I think this could be happening and believe it would be good for the Vikings, I still root non stop during the game. I chew off my fingernails, yell at the top of my lungs, and scream at the refs! Theres no guarantee Lawrence will be a success either. He could be a flop in the wrong system or suffer from a major injury and not recover from it. No there is no guarantee but I like his odds, I have personally been following Trevor since he was in high school and believe he is that good, and so does every other draft prognosticator. He has been the undisputed #1 prospect for 2 years for the 2021 draft. But, if the team thinks Justin Fields or Trey Lance would be better or a better fit than so be it. I will cheer with all my heart for who ever is wearing the purple and horns. Kirk wasn't the problem on Sunday and anyone who thinks so doesn't know shit about football I never said Kirk was the problem, in fact I have been one of Kirk's supporters on this board. I just think that 3 - 13 might be a better option for a championship than 3 more years of 9 - 7.

Been a die hard fan for over 50 years, i watch tons of other NFL games besides the Vikes also, with only a few exceptions (legendary defenses) the teams that win the championship have someone special at QB, a franchise guy that raises the level of the guys he plays with even the defense plays better because they know they always have a chance with him at QB, one time in my fandom life have we had a franchise guy and we lost 4 bowls with him, i know it won't happen but i would love a 3-13 season when theres two or three franchise type guys coming in the draft, i want to cheer for a guy who has plus plus talent once in my life, Trevor appears to have it all, size, accuracy, arm strength, mobility, smarts, not sure on Fields and Lance checking all the boxes but they may, no one will try to lose and we do have some very talented players and maybe we can turn it around and have a great season but i looked at our schedule before the season and saw 7 wins with a max of 9, i was thinking we would win the opener, our d line is going to have to improve a lot to make more then 7 wins, if we have a couple of our better players get injured(i know Hunter is already down for a while) we could be close to that 3 or 4 win total, you just have no chance against NFL QB's without a good pass rush, add inexperienced corners and it won't look like it did with Rodgers but it won't be good

Here is our remaining schedule, how many "easy games" do you see? I see maybe 3 games where the current Vikings would be favored by more than 3. Getting Hunter back on the field and Ngakoue up to speed will help but if the game is on the line do you trust the current CBs to make a stop? This is a tough schedule, sadly I could see the Vikings 3 - 13 without even trying to tank.
2 @indianapolis colts 3 tennessee titans 4 @houston texans 5 @seattle seahawks 6 atlanta falcons 7 bye week 8 @green bay packers 9 detroit lions 10 @chicago bears 11 dallas cowboys 12 carolina panthers 13 jacksonville jaguars 14 @tampa bay buccaneers 15 chicago bears 16 @new orleans saints 17 @detroit lions

As a Vikings fan for half a century, I'd prefer an honest effort every season over tanking for any reason. Maybe it's because when I played football it was for love of the game (my likelihood of going pro asymptotically approached zero). I'd rather the Vikes never win a Super Bowl than win one because they intentionally sucked for a draft pick.

Based on what I saw last Sunday, I don't think we are going to have to intentionally lose anything.

The fundamental point of sports is to compete to win - always.Β I don't get why you'd even bother watching a team play if that were the case. Imagine how painful sports would be to watch if by a 3rd or halfway through the season, the bottom 3rd of the league just quit trying to play. Isn't that the NBA in a nutshell?

But I hear what you're saying.

The easy way to get Lawrence was to trade Diggs for a 2021 1st from the Giants or Jets instead of Buffalo. If either wins more than 2-3 games I'd be surprised.

Good obscure word pull.

Loser mentality always escapes me. Nothing is a guarantee and really how well do tanking teams do? Look at the Lions have they really recovered from the 0-fer season. How about the Rams all those Number 1's that that they traded for and had 1 run, Cleveland lets talk about them 17 and 18 they were the first pick. How about the Giants 3 first round picks and never sniffed the playoffs?
Nope never bought into the 1 player idea ever since the trade for Herchel.
Look at Kansas City 2 top 10's since 2013
Mahomes #10 2017 Fisher #1 2013 everybody else is in the +20's or no longer with the team
Philly how about Philly they gave all of that draft capital for Wentz and he did not even play in the game.
Sorry but Football is a TEAM sport that tanking a entire season for does not make sense. Plus if you ever did it and the NFL could prove it you would be in a world of hurt
