Key game series against the Sox on the road followed by the Cubs so they'll stay in the Windy City for 7 games in a row.
Twins match up well with the Sox and the bats have started coming round (11 HR's v. the Tribe). If the Twins take 3 out of 4, they'll be in a dead heat tie with the Sox.
Oh, and Proud, don't even think about posting in game threads or the flogger comes out.

They'd actually be a game up. With 8 games to go. Would be nice to get all the home field advantage possible.

Star Tribune Sports @stribsports
The #MNTwins called up IF Travis Blankenhorn after Marwin Gonzalez was scratched from the lineup because of illness.

Sox schedule is harder than ours (including 3 with the Cubs) down the stretch because they have 4 against the Tribe (I personally think they're the better team).

Sox starter (Cease) can really bring it. 98-99 mph FB (not much if any movement on it) with an above average CU (slider is mediocre). Location on some of his pitches were off (catcher sitting inside and the pitch he blew by Donaldson was belt high outside).
This has the making of a pitcher's duel if Berrios is on his game.

Berrios used his FB (94-95 mph) more in the 1st inning than any other previous game I've watched. Gave up 2 opposite field singles (1 on a slider that hung) with 2 out but no damage done.

Wade led off with a ground rule double. His power is definitely better than last year (looks like he's been hitting the weights in the off season). Unfortunately got stranded.
Cease has a curve but only threw it 1x to Cave. Not as big an arc as Hill but left it up in the strike zone. Still having command issues (couple of FB he nearly uncorked over the catcher's head kind of like Trevor May). But, what they hey, he's throwing 98-99 and blowing it by the Twins so far (3K's thru 2).

Crap. Berrios issued a lead off walk that led to a run on a Texas League pop fly the opposite way that fell in because Kepler was playing too deep. Anderson then hit a liner to left on a high FB, next hitter HBP but Berrios wiggles out of the jam.
Sox grab a 1-0 lead.
Berrios' velocity is still good at 95 mp but he's leaving it up in the zone. He's doesn't have command of his slider and curve yet (decent but not quite as good movement) that have been either out of the zone or left high.

Both pitchers might be a 100 pitches each by inning 4.

Adrianza leads off with a double (2nd consecutive inning) but the Twins played into Cease's hands either by taking a walk (Donaldson on a borderline ball 4 that was tailor made to go to the opposite field) and Cruz pulled a grounder straight to the SS for an easy DP to end the inning.
Twins hitting coach should be fired. Guys like Cruz, Sano and Donaldson are more than capable of hitting HR's, doubles and key singles by going the opposite way.
