May struck out the side but, man, he's frustrating to watch. He has excellent velocity (tonight 97-98) but when tries to put a little "extra juice" on it, his mechanics completely fall apart, his pitches sail high out of the zone even over the C's head and yet he still clocks in at 97-98. His "breaking stuff" (baby curve and CU) are merely in between pitches to get to strike 3 with his FB.
As I've said before, May is basically a 1 trick pony. Most of the time he's effective but occasionally, as has already happened 2x this year, he gets lit up giving up HR's bc hitters know what to expect.
5-1 final. Twins really need to win tomorrow to keep the pressure on the Sox as they'll be a 7 game road trip (including 4 in Cleveland) and anything can happen. The higher seed the Twins can get the better (as long as they don't draw the Yank's in the 1st round).
As of now the Twins are #4 seed and the Yankees are at #5 and would play each other in the first round of the playoffs (best of 3)

Twins need to win the division to avoid the Yanks. I don't see any other way unless maybe Rays tank.

HR derby for this matinee. 2 HR's by Buxton and now Donaldson who immediately gets ejected after kicking dirt at the plate ump over a called strike the pitch before he didn't like. Sox have 2 HR's of their own.
Twins 3-2, top of the 6th.

Sox loaded the bases v. Wisler but May came on and got the Twins out of the jam.
Top of the 7th after Buxton got his 3rd hit of the game, Jeffers hit a medium deep fly to RC that the CF dropped. Buxton stopped, turned as if he was going back to 1st, saw the ball dropped and was waved in to go for plate by the 3rd base coach (total idiot) and was thrown out with ease. Twins ran themselves out an inning when they would have had runners on the corners with 1 out.

Twins lost 4-3. Clippard and Romo combined to give up 2 runs in the 7th.

Percentages are getting very high that we tangle with the Yankees.

Percentages are getting very high that we tangle with the Yankees. Is it better to face them in a 3 game series or maybe later in a longer one?

I was hoping we could somehow avoid them totally since our club has developed a mental trap when playing them.
