The Twins have placed left-hander Rich Hill on the injured list because of shoulder fatigue. 1st Odorizzi, then Homer Bailey and now Hill down to boot. Twins starters are dropping like flies.

I wasn't aware until just now that the Twins were playing a matinee today.
Twins up 7-1 bottom of the 8th.

Baldelli finally did with May who closed it out per the box score. Final score Twins 7-3 over the Pirates.
Interesting tidbit about the game being delayed because someone flew a drone into the stadium (roof was open).

Twins will face off against the Pirates with the next 2 being on the road. Dobnak, who's pitched well in his 1st outings, get the nod for the Twins. Sano and Buxton will sit tonight's game out (both in hitting slumps) with Marwin and Cave starting in their place. Adrianza will continue to fill at 3rd until Donaldson comes back.
Sure hope a few Vikes fans can watch along and post comments on this board 'cuz it feels like an echo chamber here with just me, Proud and Solomon.
Come on dammit, root for the Twins who are currently the only real game in town. They're off to a 9-2 start in a 60 game shortened season with not just the chance to make the playoffs but take the WS crown. They're that good even without 3 of their 5-6 projected starting pitchers out with minor injury issues.

Impressive how they have built a bullpen that is one of the best in baseball. Great middle relief and closers. Although the hitting is looking a bit under-achieving so far (exception of Cruz), hopefully it gets on track soon, especially need Arraez, Garver, Sano, Cave. Maeda looking solid.

Hope you stick around, watch some games online (they're free) and post here with your insights re: the team and individual players. This place has been a ghost town.

1-0 Twins after 5. Pitchers duel between Dobnak and Williams (Pirates' starter who's pitched better than I expected based on his record and stats but has a good (not great) fastball/slider combo with above average movement on both pitches that has been keeping the Twins at bay other than that 1 run which was kind of a fluke).

Stashak came in for Dobnak in the 7th and pitched a very effective inning retiring the side on 10 pitches. Good location and movement on all of his pitches with a 91-92 mph FB.

My favorite Viking's game was their season opener in 1969. After losing to the Colts in the NFL championship game the previous year, the Vikes destroyed the Colts 52-14. That was the game when Joe Kapp threw 7 TD's tying the record for most TD passes in a game.

Twins have something going in the 8th. After issuing a walk, Polanco hit a soft liner too L for single that the OF over-ran allowing both runners to advance on the error to 2nd and 3rd and Cruz was effectively pitched around (didn't give him anything close to hit loading the bases. Unfortunately, after fouling off several pitches Rosario grounded out to 1st to end the inning.
Still 1-0 with Duffy in to pitch the bottom of the 8th.

Duffy with another perfect inning with 2 SO's. FB at 94 with movement on it and a nasty slider/change up that's 10 mph slower.
Pirates announcers said that Duffy has not given up a run in 30 out of his last 31 appearances (dating back from July last year) with 50K's, only 5 BB's and an ERA of .63.
He is clearly so much better than May and deserves being the last set up man before Rogers (or let him go 2 to finish out this game).
