Clippard on in relief of Dobnak to start the 6th. Lead off walk followed by a stolen base (Clippard with a really long delivery and the catcher had no chance to throw out the runner). Marwin with another play, nice backhand stab to his left and toss to Clippard for the out advancing the runner to third. Got the next hitter to swing through a change up and induced a grounder that should have been an easy out to end the inning that Polcanco and Arraez couldn't decide who was going to get the ball that rolled under both of their gloves to center that turned into a double
Managed to get the last out of the inning but he's a journeyman pitcher at best. FB high 80's with only a change up as an off speed pitch (mid to high 70's) to make his FB look better than it is. Threw 3 belt high to just under the letters pitches to Lindor over the heart of the plate and was fortunate he only fouled them off. Got away with the same thing (1 pitch) to the Santana.

Twins had a runner in scoring position at 2nd with 1 out (double just over the 3rd base bag that hit the chalk) but the 2 batters couldn't get the run across. Previous inning Twins had runners at the corners but Rosario couldn't get the job done.
Duffy in for the 7th and pitched a perfect inning (no hits, 1 SO on 14 pitches).
Still 4-1 through 7.

Romo in for the 8th. Still marvel that a guy who throws 90% sliders at 77-78 mph can pitch in the big leagues. I faced pitchers who threw harder than that when I was 12 in Little League. Got a couple of FB's up to a high of 80 right at the edge of the plate for strikes and ended with a flourish striking out Santana turning up his "heater" to 84 mph to end the inning.

Rogers closed it out with a 5 pitch (3 straight grounders to Polanco) 9th. Easy peasey.

Twins have Maeda going against Carlos Carrasco (went 6 innings in his 1st start this season and fanned 10 giving up 2 runs on 5 hits so he's no slouch) this afternoon.

Do-Hyoung Park @dohyoungpark 10m
The #MNTwins placed Zack Littell on the 10-day IL with a left hamstring strain. Jorge Alcala will replace him on the 30-man roster.

I have never seen anything like this. Lindor (after 2 ground outs) complained to the plate umpire that the L side batter's box was too short resulting in about a 5 minute delay to measure it using the ground keepers rake. Unbelievable. Eventually, pops out to center.

That's as a courtesy before re-assigning him, if possible to AAA, or have to risk putting him on waivers and, if unclaimed, he goes to our AAA team (or has minor league baseball been done away with?). He sucks.

Carrasco is off to a good start matching Maeda but several of his pitches were off the target set by the C and right over the heart of the plate. Unfortunately, the Twins haven't capitalized yet because he has a 95 mph FB with late movement on it.
2nd time thru the lineup, hopefully the hitters make adjustments and make him pay for his mistakes.

In contrast to the 1st game of this series, the Twins have a plate umpire who's been very generous in calling strikes for Maeda especially this last inning. Struck out the side but 2 of the 3 called strike outs were questionable.

That was quick. Sano crushed a HR to left (another FB mean to be outside but drifted out over the plate). Twins on the board. Marwin followed with a sharp single to left, Buxton hit a hot liner but right to the CF who had him shaded to LC before Kepler grounded out sharply to 1st (Marwin caught in a run down) for the final out. Twins may be figuring Carrasco faster than I thought (especially the bottom of the order).

Rosario with a 2 out opposite field HR just over the fence but hit hard. Reacted quickly to the FB not hitting the target set by the catcher. Garver got hit on a pitch where again Carrasco missed the target badly inside and Arraez followed with a medium deep liner to the gap in LC that the CF had to dive for. If the ball had gone through, Garvey would easily been able to score.
2-0 Twins.

Indians get their 1st hit off Maeda (scratch single) that was a bang bang play with Zimmer called safe (Twins challenged but lost). Stole 2nd on a swinging SO but left stranded as next hitter grounded out to SS.
Maeda throwing even more off speed pitches (before flashing a 92 mph FB) than the game v. the Sox and the Indians haven't figured him out.

Sano just smoked his 2nd HR in as many at bats.
3-0 Twins (all their runs on solo HR's) after 5.

May on in relief of Maeda to start the round of relievers. 1hit (infield dribbler), 1 bb but left them stranded. FB 95-96 but location a little off.
