Love the agressiveness but I think they gave up a bit too much with Verse and D players still on the board. Probably a Flores pick so I'm a believer. Turner and Verse exist in different universes. Verse is strong and straight line fast, but lacks bend. Turner is like the top RAS guy in the draft. yes, they are 2 different players but Turner is far from finished and really doesn't have a plethora of pass rush moves. His RAS is crazy and he has huge upside but still may have been alot when there were a bunch of players still on the board. Now that you see the D players come off after the Turner pick means they knew what they were doing and he wasn't going to be there at 23.

Does JJM have what it takes to be a year 1 starter, or will they try and train him up for a year behind Darnold? I hope he starts by mid season. Itβd be a fun story if Darnold turned out to be the guy, but Iβd prefer they focus their efforts towards McCarthy

Trading for Turner was expensive, but a pretty good pick. Kwesi better slow down, or we might not draft again until 2026π€£ In real picks it was what - 2nd and 5th this year and 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in 2025? Definitely a high price.

It would be something if Darnold flourished into the player everyone thought he would be when drafted.

Any word on the terms of the trade? #23Β and a 5th along with a 3rd and 4th next year (having already traded the #2 leaves the cupboard bare for next year's draft).Β
Another "brilliant" trade by Kwesi.Β
The Vikings are, most likely, getting a 3rd round compensatory pick next year, so they will have a 3rd round pick in the 2025 Draft in addition to keeping their 2025 1st.

Thing is it gave them leverage where they could threaten to out spend anyone else to move up. Without the #23 they did not have that leverage. If you told me a few months ago we could trade a couple 2's a 3rd and some day 3 picks to get a QB and a blue chip pass rusher I would have been all in. Turner was not even on my radar he was considered pretty well across the board as the top defensive player in this draft.

But he was often tagged as the best defensive guy in the draft. Teams usually pay higher picks to move up and pick a guy who was quoted as a top 10 pick.

We ended up with a blue chip DE and a young QB who just knows how to win. The upside of these picks is ridiculous! Iβm thinking of getting my first ever qb jersey after a draft. Went Peterson first, and the next draft jersey was Harrison Smith. If these guys work out like those two I think I would be happy haha

I hope the Parsons projections come true. The lb package Flores has to play with will be fun to watch.

I really wanted Murphy, but Turner is a stud. It sucks that we don't have a 2nd rnd pick. Vikings really need a quality bulldozer in the middle of the D- line

I think Kwesi did the math on drafting guys in later rounds and figured they normally arent worth the trouble. While you spend lots of effort developing them, most are off the squad in 3 years. i think this is why we were so active in Free agency this year picking up depth guys figuring he would use these later picks to hone in on value picks he really wants near the top. I guess it makes sense.
