It doesn't matter if you are 100% must get up to get Maye, or get up to #4 for JJ McCarthy. There is just a big a chance that the Vikings don't trade up and get one of these QBs and there are several reasons why; -the Pats don't want to trade out of #3. They have decided that they are taking their QBOTF at #3 and that's it -the Cards don't want to move down to #11 no matter what the Vikings are willing to trade -the Vikings don't think that McCarty is good enough prospect to be a top ten pick -the Vikings see no difference betweeen McCarthy and Penix and Nix -if the Vikings are willing to give up a huge amount of draft capital maybe the teams there also feel the prospect is worth that much so they will not move down -the Giants, Broncos, or some other team are willing to way overpay and outbid the Vikings
Draft night is going to be fun, it will be interesting, I hope things go great for the Vikings and they get the next great QB, but we all need to be prepared that it doesn't go the way we think it will or maybe nomatter how hard they try, they don't get to where they want, with the guy they want on the board.

I fully anticipate us not being able to move up enough to get any of the QBs. We will trade down, gather more picks in the second or third and pick in the late teens and 23. DT and whichever QB is left. If no QB then BPA at CB or IOL

I highly doubt the Vikings would have traded up to 23 without knowing that they could move into the top 5 for a QB. It makes no sense to make that move without having something set to move again.

You know it is just as likely they have JJM above Maye as ranked with Nix or Penix, right? When I read the subject header I thought you might go into how it is possible they go into a 2 or 3 year tailspin with a young QB that doesn't pan out which is a possibility. Instead I get a list of things that fly in the face of objective data. Wake up, it is time to accept the fact they are as likely to be trading up into the top 5 to get Maye or Daniels as they are JJM. We are past the point of if he is a 1st rounder, if he will go top 10, and now in the stage of will he be one of the top 3 selected. Williams and McCarthy are the only QB's that fit any system. McCarthy is the youngest and is probably the top of the class as far as X & O's and understanding basic NFL concepts. Right now I think he might be trending ahead of Maye. I have said this a bunch of times I would choose Maye myself just for the skill set he has over JJM. People keep forgetting this is a guy if he went back for a 4th year was going to be projected as the #1 pick in 25' and leading candidate for the Heisman. His only major question mark is that he played in an offense that did not ask him to throw 30+ times a game. Add in he is about as clean a prospect as far as character is concerned that has come along in a while.
I will not be disappointed if they get any of the top 4, but Daniels I will have questions on as far as fit and KOC's willingness to fit the system for him. Kid has plenty of talent. Maye you are swinging for a Josh Allen type 1 man team type player. I never even thought Maye was a possibility until JJM and Daniels started jumping up the board. McCarthy has already played better and done more by age 20 then Daniels, Penix, or Nix did. He was always viewed as a future 1st round pick just a lot of folks thought he would go back for a 4th year and play in a higher volume passing offense and be "the guy" in a weaker class. If he did that would not get a chance at him unless you had a 3 win season or the like this coming year. I do not know why Maye's stock seems to be dropping right now? I still think he should be the 2nd pick in the draft, but I think he is rubbing people the wrong way. Ask yourself why Nix had a better Senior Bowl on paper then Penix, but his stock in many ways dropped more then Penix did? There is something with him that is not clicking with NFL front offices.

Wake up, it is time to accept the fact they are as likely to be trading up into the top 5 to get Maye or Daniels as they are JJM. I will not be disappointed if they get any of the top 4, first of all, YES, i do believe they are trying to get into top 3 to get their top guy but my point is that is just not a sure thing. The fact that Houston came to Minny offering the #23rd pick is interesting. Yes it gives more ammo for a trade up but there are teams that can simply offer more. I know that if they do move up they will have to make a huge move to get #3 or #4. Within seconds fans will be pulling out the old trade chart and screeming Kwesi gave uo too much. I am just stating I can see where it is just as likely to fail getting their guy are they are to pull it off. I see the likelyhood of getting Maye at 25%. Daniels maybe 5%. McCarthy I would say is 50% chance. Right now every team is war gaming and they should have at least 11 possible scenarios and plans for early Thurday night.

I think the purple acquired #23 to give them more flexibility at different points of the draft for that Qb. I definitely think they have an idea of cost if tier one player X gets to say pick 3/4 itβs gonna cost in this range, but you can go down that rabbit hole with what ifs all dayβ¦.will that team trade, will other teams offer more, are you willing to pay the cost to get thereβ¦everything thatβs been discussed and media hyped.
i think the JJM stuff is similar to the Levis steam generated last yearβ¦.a couple weeks and leading up to the draft it was oh heβs gonna go top 10, top 5, donβt be surprised if one team loves him more than the big threeβ¦nope lol. I think if he falls to 11 the Vikes take himβ¦why I think they grabbed the extra first. If they canβt trade up for one of the 3 ( I think they like Maye) and JJM goes to the Gmen ( Iβll be surprised if they take a Qb, they need to win now or heads will roll) or another team trading up the 23 gives them another shot if they like a Nix/pennixβ¦.maybe they like just one guy and for whatever reason they canβt get himβ¦its all speculation until they do it.
id be cool with going a big nasty DT and CB with our two first rounders and giving Darnold a legit chance with this Oβ¦Friggn mullens with this offense put up good enough numbers to win and I think Darnold has waaaaaay more talent than him lolβ¦that being said I hope they grab a Qb and take a swing, but I guarandamtee you whatever direction they go there will be much wailing and gnashing of teethβ¦.SKOL

Itβs also very possible that the Broncos offer just a hair more than us to move up and steal our guy. They donβt have a viable backup QB so they are definitely going QB with their pick
