Only 1 true 1st round DT in this draft... Something like this View AttachmentFrom the sound of it, JJ is not making it past the Giants.

Round 1, #11 overall
Round 1, #23 overall (acquired from Houston in pre-draft trade)
Round 4, #108 overall
Round 4, #129 overall (acquired from Detroit in T.J. Hockenson trade)
Round 5, #157 overall (acquired from Cleveland in ZaβDarius Smith trade)
Round 5, #167 overall (acquired from Kansas City in 2024 Draft weekend trade)
Round 6, #177 overall (acquired from Carolina via Jacksonville in Ezra Cleveland trade)
Round 7, #230 overall (acquired from Atlanta via Cleveland and Arizona in Josh Dobbs trade)
Round 7, #232 overall (acquired from Houston in pre-draft trade)
Reminder: This is a weak crop of unimpressive DTs available. The above slots as they sit current would result in a reach at #11/23 or an absolute project chance from #108 down to the #232 pick. If that position is sought for high snap count contribution on this Defense - more trading is needed.
This draft Features a deep class of WRs all with lots of size/speed/games played and ditto for OTs. I have no clue what can be done with just moving draft picks around to get other positions outside of those two.
Having more picks between 30-100 seems right for DT and OG or C - where I see the Big Need!

From the sound of it, JJ is not making it past the Giants. That's ok I was just doing an example for DTs still hypothetically available. I'd take any QB except Williams anyway.

Thread doesn't need to morph into a Daunte Debate. Everyone knows what rounds some good QBs are drafted in. Only people that don't know live on North Sentinel Island. Last summer I tried to go there and discuss the NFL draft with them. It didn't go well... cuz you are so well paid as an NFL expert

Does the draft start tonight? People pulling their hair out like a no more moves are allowed...
For thise who think the Vikings can't trade 3 1st rounders for thier guy, 11 is a first rounder, 23 is two second round picks...
The biggest question I heard while driving today is why did Houston agree to this... I think they are banking on a bad Vikings season and having a top 2nd round pick. Hope they are disapointed.

My guess is that we already have a deal in place if the person we want is in the spot we're targeting. If not then we set the price for someone else to beat.
Bold move... now we need to get the QB that will make it pay off. Big IF in the NFL draft.

I mean we could trade a 7th for Joe Mixon and someone would get mad that Coastal Carolina DE JaQuon Griffin was available in the 7th.

I think itβs either going to be a trade up with the Chargers to number five for McCarthy or a trade up to number three with the Patriots for Maye. Iβm hoping that New England trades with the Bears to get Justin Fields to lessen their need to take a quarterback.

I Heard somewhere that the Charges take something like a 90 mill cap hit if they trade Herbert this year I don't think that is true. He has a huge guaranteed option bonus on 3/22/24 and another next year that presumably would go to the Vikings if traded before paid and if so then they'd actually save cap by trading him in the next week. Highly unlikely, but fun to think about.

I Heard somewhere that the Charges take something like a 90 mill cap hit if they trade Herbert this year They only have 15M in SB money prorated to him and he has a 6M G salary and a 10M bonus due next week. I think they actually save 1M in the deal for this years cap. Herbert's contract is really funky how it is structured.

We could trade with the Giants; our two first and Mullens. But they would have to give us at least a 3rd this year back.......

I donβt think after paying Darnal 10 M this is the plan, but IF we are trying to trade for Herbert vs. a Rookieβ¦.what would be Herbertβs cap hits to us in 24,25,26
