6 years in and 26.
Big time arm talent. This is a pretty nice move.

Watch him be absolutely fantastic. Surrounded by talent with great coaching..... I don't think QB is going to be priority no.1 in this draft.Β You are either a professional level troll, or smart as a box of rocks. Iβll put heavy money on the latter.

Well; it came on for Mayfield; guess we'll see. Hope it doesn't detour from taking one of the top 6 QB's coming out. Not a Mullens fan at all; guy runs like he has lead in his pants and shoes. Very careless with the ball.

I think any rookie will he starting by week 7. Darnold is not good, but not like there were any quality QBs left to pick from so canβt be too shocked. I do think this gives an indication though for what type of rookie QB weβll take I hope that the vikings strike gold, buy the winning lottery ticket and draft a QB that can be a top 10 QB in the league, but with the differences between college and the nfl game, I do not expect to see a rookie will see any significant time for the Vikings in '24.

Darnold sucks. Maybe KOC can turn him around but I doubt it. Heβs a bridge guy. It doesnβt matter if itβs Darnold or some other retread. 2024 is a transition year to a new QB. Kam and KoCs jobs ride in drafting the right guy in the draft. Thatβs all that matters. The Vikings arenβt building for a SB run in 2024. We havenβt dumped Kirk for Darnold. We dumped Kirk to clear the path and the cap for a new young QB. I donβt know about sucks. Right now he looks like a backup NFL QB. But he did flash early on (and then seemed to regress). We will see, sometimes the lights come on. Generally they donβt. Not sure that Darnold beats out Mullens and/or Hall. Would have preferred Minshew as a bridge but what can you do. Just the opposite, he was bad as a rookie and his years with the Jets, but they were terrible. He didn't get much more help in Carolina but he did finish with 4 wins in his last 6 starts for the Panthers.

What a train wreck. Complete waste of time and money. Please explain how this move is better than just rollin with Mullens and Hall. What exactly is inspiring about Darnold⦠Precisely nothing! Money wasted that should have went to OL or DL etc, etc, etc, etc.

He was playing pretty well last time he was starting, almost got a crappy Panthers team into the playoffs. He first struggled on a terrible Jets team then dealt with the badly coached (Matt Rhule) Panthers. Maybe he breaks out with better coaching and more talent around him, still young at 26.
"Darnold finished the 2022 season with a 4-2 record, seven touchdowns to three interceptions, and a paltry completion percentage of 58.6%. The four wins Darnold and interim head coach Steve Wilks pushed the team toward being in position for the division title if they could beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 17. But the Panthers blew their chance after leading 21-10 in the fourth quarter and ultimately lost 30-24."

Darnold isn't good but he's still a potential and there is absolutely no risk here. They'd rather take a chance on someone who can be developed rather than a limited vet like Tannehill or Flacco or trading for someone more costly like Jimmy G.
The writing is on the wall that whomever we draft could be starting by week 8...not many vets will sign on to that situation this early in free agency.

Well, I'm certainly not getting moist over this by any means but expected. We're going to be in the rookie QB pool and we'll have a guy who has started 55 games whereas Mullens only has 17 starts.
My opinion is we'll be going QB and will have a guy in the building who has more than a few starts that can mentor.

Wow the hand wringing over a 1 year contract. Sam is a former 1st round QB like many others. He fits the mold KOC can work with worked with McCown. Nothing I see here does anything but bring in components that can be changed out when the upgrade is available.
I does point to we are posturing to take a QB, looks like the Edges are addressed and Hunter will be gone. LB was addressed.
Looks like we got Aaron Jones at RB

We addressed our defence with linebackers who can get off blocks. I feel this move shows we will draft a qb but also that we will make dline moves as well.

Well Iβm hoping there is some oline moves too, then I will feel a lot better with this offseason.
