No real surprises...I have to think at some point Wilson has to beat out Gedeon..PR is a mild surprise

Past the starters it doesn't mean a lot... Bisi for instance has gotten more play with the 1's and 2's then a lot of guys ahead of him for instance at WR... Conklin getting set at #3 TE is probably the strongest statement on the list... Sounds like Odenigbo has earned the #4 DE so far... Mattison set at #2 RB is pretty strong statement also this early in camp... My guess is everything is pretty wide open at backup OL, WR (after #3), and DT atm...

Ammer looks to have a spot locked up on the 53. Punt, KR and 3rd back listed.

I see Ammer as our third down specialist. Catching the ball on short 3rd down plays, like Bill Brown did for the Vikes in the early 70's. Mattison will give Cook a rest on the first and second down. Just my thoughts.

I see Brothers is ahead of Smith at LB. Should be a close battle between those two and Downs. I'm pretty sure we keep 6 LB's, so one could be cut or Smith to Downs to PS. Is Downs still available for PS?

Looks to me like our back up LBs are pretty much just special teams guys who are serviceable temporary players. Outside of Wilson and Gedeon I don't feel the others are capable of stepping in for any extended time; and even those 2 don't offer us much advantage. Hope Barr and Kendricks stay healthy

Good thoughts, I know Spielman loves him as a return guy so it will be interesting to see how much time he gets at RB.

Just my thoughts. Definitely more comfortable having the #3 RB back there catching bullets on the PR and KR, than the #3 WR

Is Downs still available for PS? Dollars say Smith makes the team... Depth chart doesn't mean much for rookies as right now giving vets benefit of the doubt on depth chart... Costs like 230k more to keep Brothers over Smith this year, and Smith would have another 210K or so hit next year from dead cap... Brothers has no dead cap... 30k difference between Smith and Downs this year and Downs has less then 50k dead hit for 2020... Downs has less then 2 accrued seasons so yes he can be placed on PS if he were to clear waivers... Also have a couple slots you can use on guys with more service time... Wouldn't be a deal breaker to cut Smith, but 2019 and 2020 both Brothers getting cut makes more sense for cap...

Vikeroo, I hope Smith makes the team over Brothers because Brothers doesn't look like much more than a STs player

Vikeroo , I hope Smith makes the team over Brothers because Brothers doesn't look like much more than a STs player You make it sound like Special Teams are not that important. Being a special teams stand-out is how most reserve LB's stay on teams. Think of Heath Farwell from about 10 years ago. Brothers is regarded as a very good special teams player. I've also read that the 4th and 5th WR will only make the team if they can also contribute on special teams (I think Bisi Johnson has a leg up on that).
