So just so I have this straight, Cousins personally played the Vikings to a 1-5 record? Nevermind that the defense in those 6 games gave up 43, 28, 31, 23 (win), 27, and 40 points in those games. That's an average of 32 points a game. Cousins certainly has his share of blame, but come on. Football knowledge. Getcha some. 40 of those points were a direct result of 2 Cousins safety's and several interceptions. The QB needs to give the team a chance to win... Cousins buried them early in the losses against GB and Atlanta... and gave away the Seattle game. I'm not saying Cousins was/is the only problem. Just saying that he is getting paid like he IS the solution while being a borderline top 15 QB. I fell off the roof today and landed on the air conditioner. I didn't blame the air conditioner. The defense doesn't need to give up points every possession regardless of where the ball is.

Kirk had 10 INTs in the first 6 games. I don't really care that he played well after that, because he had already "led" the team to a 1-5 record, and only with a playoff shot because of the playoff expansion. Later in the season, he didn't throw many INTs, but he had a bunch of fumbles. Yeah, Wilson would like to have back that SB throw, and Pete Carroll might wish that he had called Lynch's number, but I dare you to find a string of six games where Wilson has personally played his team into a 1-5 record. If you don't think that giving up short fields, safeties, and such affect the defense, I don't know what to tell you. In the Seattle game alone, Cousins gave up the ball inside his own 30 yard line twice within a minute. The defense had held Seattle to mostly 3 and outs until that point. In the Colts game, Cousins gave up a safety, and he gave the ball away on three straight possessions. You don't think that forcing the defense back onto the field affected their play?

In the Seattle game, the defense had the team in position to win the game. They must certainly were not giving up points every time down the field, but you're crazy if you think it doesn't matter that your QB gave the ball away inside your own 30 multiple times in a game. Seattle possessions before Kirk's giveaways Punt Punt Punt End of half Punt TD Then Seattle scored TDs on "drives" of 15 and 29 yards, thanks to field position provided by Cousins. Seattle then had Punt Interception Then the Vikings offense turned the ball over on downs. Then the defense had its only bad series of the entire game. They had multiple opportunities to get off the field, and yes, they failed, but it's utter BS to say that they lost the game, when they didn't allow a drive longer than 58 yards, and only one drive of more than 40 yards until that last series

At the end of the day I'm not a Cousins lover or hater. I think he takes more crap than he deserves. He needs a good Oline against better defenses. I think that is obvious to everyone and should have been obvious to the Vikings when they signed him. It's on them for not building a better oline for him. Can he clutch up? I question it. He did it against the Saints. But he loses to good teams because good teams typically have good defensive lines. To me that is it in a nutshell.

Hopefully the online can give him some time against a decent team. But Kirk also has to show he wonβt turn the ball over or make a bone headed play as well. Itβs a big year for this whole franchise, coach, GM, QB, and a few other older guys as well.
