In addition to Kirilloff (for Sean Poppen), LHP Rich Hill, RHP Jorge Alcala and 3B Josh Donaldson were removed from Twinsβ roster for wild-card round. RHP Jake Odorizzi, C Willians Astudillo and RHP Randy Dobnak were added.

Kiriloff instead of Lamonte Wade. Interesting.

Thought Rich Hill would be good in long relief in case a starter has a tough time. Guess I was wrong.

Kiriloff instead of Lamonte Wade. Interesting. Maybe the focus is on pinch hitting for this short series. Sounds like Kiriloff makes good contact.

Tuned in late not realizing this was a matinee game. Twins squandered a bases loaded with 1 out opportunity but were unable to plate any runs.
However, in the 3rd, Kepler who drew his 2nd consecutive walk, was driven in a double by Cruz...to RC. How 'bout that. Maybe someone on the Twins is listing to this "Whisperer" who's been begging for our sluggers (Cruz, Sano, Donaldson, etc.) to put the ball in play going to the opposite field.
Twins up 1-0 after 3.

Maeda struggling with control of his FB (low 90's). Been low and away virtually every time meaning his release point is off (holding the ball too long). Just loaded them up with 2 BB's around seeing eye single through the inf.
Also his PC is now up to 77 and we're only in the 4th.

Maeda was able to get out of the jam by SO but his PC is concerning (now up to 81).

Greinke for his part has also been off (mainly with his breaking stuff). PC at 79. Has issued 3 BB's along with giving up 2 hits. 4th inning was the first time he retired the Twins in order.

Maeda seems to be settling in retiring the side in order on only 10 pitches (PC now 91) recording his 5th SO. Should be able to go at least 1 more inning but Baldeli already has May up in the pen.

Greinke pulled after 4. 'Stros reliever promptly walked the 1st 2 hitters but Buxton was over eager at the plate swinging at pitches off the plate eventually SO on a called strike 3 on a nice CU on the outside corner. Kepler and Cruz at least put the bat on the ball but popped to short LF and ground out to 3rd respectively. This reliever had no stuff (FB high 80's to low 90's) he rarely showed relying on his breaking stuff.
Had the Twins been more patient at the plate after the 1st 2 walked, Twins could have had something going and added to their lead.

Valdez ('Stros reliever) displayed a much better FB retiring the Twins in order.
Duffey in for the 7th.

I've been watching with one eye and doing some other stuff also so not posting. Huge missed opportunity in the first.
