Homer "Beetle" Bailey has looked good so far. Retired the Tigers in order 2 innings (mostly fly balls) using a good straight change (low to mid 80's but no movement) and splitter (good spin on it but it's a lot slower than his other pitches--72 to 75 mph) while spotting his FB (90 mph) every now and then. Tends to pitch high in the zone so he 2nd time thru the Tigers lineup will be the test. Needs to get his velocity up to his norm in the past 92-93 otherwise the Tigers will just sit on his change up and that could lead to HR's.

Beetle may not have been fully loose the 1st 2 innings bc now his FB is consistently at 92-93 and topped one at 94 (hard and low at the knees).
Retired the side again but most of the outs have been FO's (average depth). If he can go 5 tonight and maybe up it to 6 in the season finale, he could definitely be a factor and perhaps start in the playoffs.

Tigers tied the score and have the bases loaded (2 hits and 2 BB's) so Beetle is pulled in favor of Stashak. Juiced his FB up to 95 after giving up hits on his CU but he can't keep his splitter in the zone and the Tigers laid off the pitch.
Meanwhile Baldeli true to form has the infield in and lucked out with a 6-2-5 DP. He is the only manager I've ever seen who brings in the inf. this early and with the score tied. Settle for a DP (playing usual depth), get the 3rd out and move on.
Anyway, Stashak did his job and got out of the inning on a FO to Buxton (deep C nearly but not quite to the wall).
1-1.

Looked good for spell. Leaves Stashak a bases loaded no out birthday present. Watching and commenting on a game in progress even tho you're a self proclaimed Jinx? I know how to use a whip, Proud, and not the least bit squeamish about using it and I mean...hard.

Garver launched a really deep HR to left off a thigh high FB leading off the bottom of the 4th. Had a nice stroke to it just like last year. Hopefully, it's a sign he's about to break out of his slump in time for the PO's.

Pitching change for the Tigers as Skobal loaded the bases for Buxton after the Garver HR. Buxton got 2 good swings off Cisnero (98 mph FB) but got caught looking at a 96 mph on the outside corner.

2 out double to deep center that Buxton backed off trying for a spectacular catch and played it safe. Next hitter slapped an opposite field single to left but Rosario threw him out at the plate (perfect throw and his 6th assist I think) and it wasn't even close.
Stashak generally pitched well but relied on his FB (92) too much and a lot of his pitches were up in the zone.
Still Twins 2-1.

May just walked the bases loaded. His FB (97) was just missing, Tigers were able to foul off most that were in the zone and a couple of his sliders that looked like borderline strikes were called balls. He looked clearly frustrated and Garver had a couple of conversations with the plate ump who "squeezed" the strike zone on May yet called similar pitches (especially by Cisnero) as strikes.
Duffey on, managed to knock down a hard hit ball straight up the box and made a throw to first that was a bit low but nowhere near the dirt that Sano dropped trying to backhand it (error). If Marwin had been at first that would an have been an easy inning ending out.
Now 2-2.
Hopefully, Baldeli leaves Duffey in for 7th as he only threw 5 pitches (4 for strikes).
