Duffey gave up a hard hit opposite field double to RC. Induced a grounder to Adrianza who had time to get the runner at 3rd (Donaldson was a little late covering 3rd) and chose to make the longer throw to 1st for the out.
Then Baldeli and his questionable play calling reared its ugly head. He had the infield come in and the Tigers hitter hit a ball that would have been right where Marwin should have been (regular depth) that would have been an out.
Contrary to popular belief, the Twins are where they are (still in a position to win the division with one of he best records in baseball) in spite of Baldeli, not because of him.
3-2 Tigers.

Twins tie up it on a HR by Kepler who had a great at bat fighting off pitches until he got one he liked.

Garver had some problems handling Romo Sunday night.
Hopefully those 2 worked those issues out on their day off.

Garver had some problems handling Romo Sunday night. Hopefully those 2 worked those issues out on their day off. Romo was sharp other than 1 ball hit right down the LF line that hit the inside part of the 3rd base bag that but for some acrobatics on Donaldson's part would have been a sure double (he made an incredible bare hand catch but off balance couldn't put enough on the throw to get the fleet Tigers hitter) so the game is going to the bottom of the 9th.

With Adrianza on 1st after drawing a BB, Buxton hit a screaming one hopper just to the L of the 3rd baseman (112 mph off the bat) that he somehow got a glove on and threw out Adrianza at 2nd.
Rather than have Buxton go for a steal (another Baldeli mistake) to get into scoring position, Donaldson hit a weak grounder into a DP.
Extra innings.

Rogers in and with a automatic runner at 2nd under the new rule allowed 2 hits scoring 1 run with runners at the corners. Could have been even worse. Donaldson made a great stop at 3rd looking back the automatic runner for the 1st out before the back to back singles. Buxton ran down a shot to LC that most OF would never be able to get to.
Tigers up 4-3.

Cave replaced Donaldson as the designated runner at 2nd and Rosario came thru reaching down to get enough wood on low breaking ball to poke the ball into left for a run scoring single.
For those who want to trade Rosario expecting Rooker to pick up the slack, Rosario is one of he best bad ball hitters in the game, unlike other Twins he hits the ball where it's pitched rather than try and pull everything and he delivers in the clutch. Plus he's had 6 assists (at least) throwing out base runners.

Rosario stole 2nd on a swinging strike 3 on Garver (don't know if he got the steal sign or went on his own). Proved to be huuuuge as Kepler hit a little blooper just over 3rd to score Rosario. Kepler, much like Rosario, hits the ball where it's pitched and clutch when it counts.
Twins win 5-4.

Twins are only 1/2 game behind the Sox. If they can finish off the Tigers tomorrow night with Maeda on the mound, they get a game off and finish the season with a 3 game set v. the Reds. They're not a push over but the Sox have a much more difficult schedule with 2 more against the Indians and wrap up with a 3 game set against the Cubs.

Boy, you should apply for Roco's job, he obviously will be fired after this year. You have a real knack of after the fact second guessing. My guess is that if they sent Buxton and he got thrown out against a lefty pitcher you would have called it the bonehead call of the game.

Only 1/2 game back but still difficult to win division. Twins have to win all 4 remaining and hope White Sox lose 2 of last 5. Or, Twins have to win 3 of 4 remaining and hope White Sox lose 3 of last 5.
