I like the pick. This guy is a 4th rounder, not a day one pick. He may not develop into a starter, but I'm very confident he will make the team.
You typically cannot expect starters past the 3rd round, but Jackson has something special, terrific size to go along with good (but not great) speed. I think he is a good fit for our needs.
4th round you should expect to be able to develop guys into starters especially early 4th. late 4th to 5th is where hit rates more the halve. 4th rounders have similar success rates to 3rd rounders which is in the 20-25% rate of developing into a starter.

Disagree Roo! The starters come from the 3rd round and higher, by the 4th round, it's hit and miss. Sure you get some...a few really, but the good bets come early. By the 3rd day (and remember this is the 3rd day of the draft) teams are looking for depth for their rosters. At this point, the diamonds in the rough are getting very scarce.

Why did Nick Saban suspend him from the Alabama team?

Success rates for 3rd and 4th rounders are pretty similar. You can feel differently about it, but that is what the numbers say.

I think Jackson is a good pick for what the Vikings need, but they have to get a little bit lucky with him. That would be the same for ANY player that they drafted in that slot.
Sorry you don't like the pick, I guess you can go cry in your bowl of milk.

@seifertespn Just had a lively video conference with new Vikings CB Khyree Jackson. He said he told the Vikings at the Senior Bowl that "I was the best cornerback in the draft, and I told them they were going to get me for cheaper because of some of the politics that go into it."

Itβs actually a very very odd pick the more you think about it.
To be clear that comment doesnβt mean I think itβs a bad pick or that I think he canβt be everything the staff is hoping for. Itβs just a very odd pick and says a lot about our previous draft picks at CB.

Vikings needed a bigger, more physical CB for Flores. Flores would like to mix his schemes more than last year and play more man coverage IMO. Reports indicate he has a high football IQ and real skills as a blitzer.
I really like Blackmon but he struggles with taller WRs and loses too many jump balls. Murphy is best in the slot.
I had CB, IOL and DL listed as areas of need for today.

After listening to Grigson and remembering what Tee Higgins did to the Vikings, I love this pick. Vikes didnβt have a guy that could cover a Higgins type WR. I get the age concern but heβs 24, not 30. Heβs a 4th round pick, not a second.

CB I did not see as a need at all unless it was for elite talent on day 1. You wanted a big CB Hart is a better player and can play CB or S. I actually thought the CB/S was pretty full at this point and unless you were going large it was not that important. Truth is WR might be the biggest need atm.

Here is the thing I would have less issue drafting a 2nd rd 25 year old CB in the 2nd I thought could come in and start early, but more issues with a guy that still needs development in the 4th. 3rd and 4th rounders usually are guys that need a year or 2 of development.

I understand your post Vikeroo.
I had Hart on my list as well but I am not a scout of CBs. I had listed Hart partly because I liked his size.
Be interested to hear your take on Isiah Davis RB SDSU And Hunter Zourad C Penn State and Khriatian Boyd DT

Vikings bring him in on the regional visit thing? Vikings probably have more info on him then most other teams. We just cut a RB that he profiles very similar to.
