Maybe KAM's guys told him that Turner was a fkn TON better than the later guys.
No reason to overcomplicate it or infer faulty conclusions based on nothing.

I canβt complain about the Turner trade up because I always bitched about trade downs with Rick and then KaM in 2022. But we could have stayed at 23 and gotten Arnold at corner and kept the picks. I think Turner will be really good but so will Arnold. I started a couple of posts about it and then said to myself, donβt be that guy thatβs never happy. Iβm happy with Turner but I think getting Arnold at another position of need and keeping the capital was the better move. I agree with ya F10, yet the Vikes have had such terrible luck drafting CBs in the 1st rd, and in most rds. Recall Mike Hughes, Jeff Gladney (RIP), Trae Waynes, Chris Cook in 2010. Vikes just can't get an All-Pro CB other than Rhodes in 2013, who was great for a couple yrs, then declined. So let's hope we have better luck with Turner.

Between trading the two seconds for a late first and then everything he gave away to move from 23 to 17, we lost the equivalent of an extra late-first round pick in value over what it would have been if the trades had been βfairβ based on the widely accepted trade charts.
We basically spent two seconds, a third, a fourth and a fifth on Turner. Thatβs fine if Turner becomes a dominant player, which I hope he will. If not, itβs really bad.
Regardless, this adds to Kwesiβs reputation for giving up extra value in trades, and other GMs take note of that.

Kwesi has consistently shown that he has a propensity for getting fleeced in trades, which unfortunately tends to become a vicious cycle as other GMs know he gives up more than βbook valueβ and will try to get that as well. You donβt want to be the guy who βlostβ a trade with the guy everybody else took to the cleaners. I happen to like the trade up to get Turner because I saw him as a Top 10 pick who was pushed down by need at QB (including ours) and OT. So I viewed that as more of a trade from 23 to 10 than 23 to 17. I think we will probably need to trade out of the first round next year to add a few picks as right now we only have the first and two fifths. Unfortunately, based on his history and now his reputation, Kwesi probably wonβt get as much as he should. What can we get for trading out of 32 in next years draft?π

Probably a fourth and Mitch Trubisky.
But I appreciate your optimism.

They had to do trade with the Jets and pray that it was enough. Itβs the price of doing business. Too many teams out there that might ruin everything

Agreed, it made sense to pay that price to make sure they didnβt get sniped by one pick.

Yeah neither trade bothered me. Kwesi even said in his presser, we have a lot of players that we love a lot so a lack of draft picks isn't that big of a deal because there might not be much room on the roster and we have over 100 next year to acquire players that way.

It's amazing how some Vikings fans get their panties in a bunch about trading away day 3 picks. All these draft picks are dart throws, with rounds 4-7 having a very low hit rate.
There must be a lot of Spielman fans on this this board that love the day 3 pick marathon that has a low yield.

You gotta remember we gave up picks to get to 23. So you gotta look at the total picks we gave up to get Turner T 17 and itβs a shit load. I have zero problem with moving up to 10 given the situationβ¦. There was basically 1 QB left on the board you coveted. But when 17 rolled around only one defensive player was off the board. So there was a ton of top talent left on the board and Turner wasnβt even a top ten consensus big board player. Again Iβm not upset we have Turner, Iβm not saying heβs a bustβ¦ but bitching we greatly overplayed given there was no urgency being created like there was at QB. There was a ton of talent left on the board when we sold the farm.

Btw there were two defensive players taken and Turner WAS a consensus top 10 big board guy.
