Lot of people like him as what a day 3 guy? Think he is viewed as a very good 4th-5th rd type guy. That's right. Pre-Combine probably more like a 6th, but he put on a hell of a show at the Underwear Olympics. Enough to make the evaluators take another look at the tape.

Yes, he looked good at the underwear Olympics, but he also has good experience, good production on film, and looked really good at the Shrine game. I'm not saying he's a day one pick, but he looks to have good potential.

I'm not disagreeing with you. He has some balance/ fluidity issues but definitely a strong Day 3 prospect.
On top of all the really good athletic traits, he's also remarkably durable, another box checked in his favor.

Iβm trying to imagine a 310 pound man jumping 36 inches straight up. It doesnβt compute "Refrigerator" Perry enters the chat...

Offensive line groups can be pretty close knit.
I am thinking Risner did not impress his collegues or the team last season. I don't think he helps himself on social media or talking to the press. I know his wife is some 'influencer' but I doubt it is a good way to go about finding a job.

I thought things would change this offseason, here I am, in April, about to be May and I donβt have a job

I agree with him that he was better than Ezra. But being better than Cleveland doesn't mean you're good. He just seems to think that he's better than he actually is and that is probably affecting his contract demands. I'm no Risner cheerleader but OTOH, I don't feel great about Blake Brandel being our starting LG in 2024 especially in front of a rookie QB.

What slays me is there are a lot of teams in the league needing Guards and several free agents have been picked up. Either his asking price is to much or he has a attitude.

I thought Risner as excellent at trying to help people up at the end of plays. Really good highlights as a team cheerleader. Sometimes wondered if he could be throwing a block and maybe getting helped up.

Above average pass blocker and below average run blocker. That simple. I mean like top 20 or so at pass blocking and bottom 5 run blocking and no real ceiling left.

Overall return from Risner for the dollar is just not enough to reinstall him in as a starter. Brandel is a 6th round pick whom now with experience, could begin to look decent for his investment as a starter. This draft is really not deep at interior OL. C and G combined has only about 5-6 with higher than 3rd round grades. (compared to nearly a dozen OTs)
Most of the picks the Vikes will have will be late, with QB taking up all or some of our top. (any leftover high pick here will go for either DT/Edge/WR) That means only a 4-5 round grade guy is likely brought in to compete with Brandel. That's a pretty even battle and will cost far less than Risner who gives them no more in total package.
