Just read that they only had to give up a 2025 6th round pick that becomes a 4th rounder if Fields plays 51% or more of their plays.
If true, that's insane.

I'd have taken Fields for a 2025 6th. But then again, they probably wouldn't have done that deal within the division.

The mentor/student combo of QBs there has more experience on field than will it here in Minn with Rookie + Darnold. However, Minn. has the advantage where none of them are near the end of their careers. Plus, the coaching combo of KOC and McCown is more QB-centric than Art Smith/Tom Arth under Tomlin.
Now both QBs in Pit have good wheels - sort of reminiscent of the "Slash" days of Kord Stewart!

Is Fields really any better than Pickett who they got rid of? Seems like Tomlin has been lost when it comes to quarterback since Ben retired.

Wow. 6th rd is hot garbage. Fields must feel pretty low that no one would give up anything more than that. OTOH, if Russell plays the way he did the past 4 yrs, Fields may be starting sometime next season.

Like I said the other day the Bears are going to end up giving him away. NO market left for him.

I love it that the Bears gave Justin Fields away for basically nothing.
Russell Wilson and Fields will be an interesting pair at QB.

Wasnβt that long ago that the word was the price for Fields was 2 #1s. Then it was 1 #1. Then it was βwouldnβt necessarily have to be a #1β.
LOL

LOL, 6th next year...
good for Fields, he gets some time to learn from Wilson who may no longer be a top QB but he does know how to be an NFL QB and should be able to help Fields get better if the ability is there
Bears should have waited to see if any QB goes down in preseason, or even after the draft see if some team lost out in the QB musical chairs. This may have been a done deal a few days ago but Steelers needed to wait til Wilson signed so he would not go elswhere.

Didn't the Steelers move Pickett because narcissistic Wilson couldn't handle having another QB looking over his shoulder? Then they go and add another former 1st rounder into the mix?

People on here ripped me for saying Kwesi over paysβ¦ but look at the Fieldsβ deal as well as the other QBβs on the move this year:
J Winston 4M Flacco 8.7M Max Jones 2.7M Minschew: 7.9M (although ave is 12.5) Brisette: 8 M Lock 5 M T Taylor 9 M Pickett: 1.9 M R Wilson 1.2 M fields 3.2 M Howell 900K M Rudolph: 2.8M
We paid Sam Darnald who has never completed 60% of his passes in any year, and multiple coaches havenβt been able to fix himβ¦. 10M!?!?
Iβm not a Fields fan and am on record as saying heβs not a great fitβ¦ but for a 6th that maybe becomes a 4th and a one year tryout for a 3.2 M cost. That seems like a risk worth taking vs. trading 3 1stβs to move up to draft a total unknown. And frankly Iβm pretty sure Iβd have rolled the dice on almost anyone in this list as a Bridge before Iβd have paid Darnald 10 M!
One thing for sure that people should take away from this move should be abundantly clear. A). KOC doesnβt want a Running QB. B). If Qwese drafts a QB like Danielβs β¦. He should be fired for signing Darnald vs. not trading for Fields for a 6/4th. You could have installed an offense both could run, and you could have kept whichever showed the most promise.
Even if Darnald pans outβ¦. The fact Kwesi paid a QB that has proved nothing but incompetence in his 5 yr career $10 M when more accomplished QBβs are getting a fraction of that money β¦.. it was a massive overpay!
