Penix Jr. operates on rough mechanics. There were several plays where the receiver was more than open and he missed due to poor mechanics. He definitely has a rocket but I think he would be continuously frustrating. Penix's arm is stronger, but his motion reminds me of Bridgewater.

Not only that, he had 4 season-ending injuries in college. If the Vikings have any consideration of drafting Penix, they had better get the best medical examination/clearance in the history of the draft.

Disappointing performance by both QBโs.
The stats are irrelevant.
There were questions about Penix under duress and he didnโt answer the bell. Unlike Stroud last year, Penix could not make plays when things broke down. Decision making and accuracy all suffered greatly.
McCarthy is a total projection. He is never put in a situation to carry a team with his arm so you donโt know what he can do. On occasion where he is forced to make throws, he is 50-50.
There is Caleb, Drake and Jaylen. The second tier is farther from the top 3 than people realize. The Vikes have to push the chips all in to land one of the top 3 or I can see a debilitating move to trade back, get a defensive lineman and draft a second tier QB in rounds 2 or 3 with extra picks.

Many are discounting the Penix PAC 12 schedule and the game last night - yeh, he got flaws. Itโs always going to be his medical for me. Josh Allen looked terrible outside his weaker conference games and Pat Mahomes had some horrid ending games.
Now on JJM, I donโt believe he even threw it over 25 times in 10 games this season - not a fan of 1st round pick for a game manager. Trey Lance anybody?

Like Penix...But his Injury History is just to scary. Washington's Oline kinda reminded me of Vikings Oline.

Only 3 QBs Id trade up for are the obvious ones. I would not trade up for Penix, McCarthy or Nix. After seeing the two last night Im almost thinking Nix is #4. He tore it up for Oregon. I watched very little of him so Im not sure if hes a system guy or what. One analyst said hes a poor mans version of Herbert. Penix has the injury history. McCarthy just didnt throw a hell of alot so I dont know what Im getting. Nix threw it all over and threw well.

Well except for the Bama game he kind of carried them a bit. Michigan players dropped some drive killers that were right on the money and then the TE makes the catch and the YAC on the one he threw kind of high in the 4th quarter. You have to remember it is a run first offense, but it is also a pro style offense as well so he is actual a bit ahead in the conceptual part.
