Prescott with three interceptions. Purdy has four touchdown passes, with three of them to tight end Kittle (who I would rank as being better than Hockenson).Β

Iβve told Cowboy fans for years that Dak, Romo and Kirk are the same guy.
You canβt overpay them and win. The cap doesnβt work with those kinds of QBβs. Zimmer knew it all along.

Purdy is a fluke. My god people get real! Yes every team should use their last draft pic in a QB to design their team around. Always a recipe for success. Yes⦠this is the blueprint for success!
I canβt even with these comments!

Purdy might be a fluke but it'd be nice if just once the Vikings could get lucky with a drafted QB to be worth a damn instead of overpaying for QBs other teams don't want. Been a long time since Daunte.

Blueprint??? WTF? So the blueprint is trade a TON of picks for a high QB pick then get lucky on a late QB pick that you took a flyer on?? Plus how many rings do the Niners have recently?

Building an offensive line and defensive line is a blueprint period
the 49ers not having Super Bowl wins comes to having injuries
the built a team, while we have no team and literally no future for years to come. End of story

Zimmer didn't know crap, because he didn't see a good thing when it hit him in the face with Keenum. We had this "Purdy recipe" and yet so many failed to see it and care enough to build around it. The difference in San Fran is their lines are built far better than the Vikings and that's the recipe I can get behind.

Dont forget their "leadership" thought it was a good idea to trade the farm for LANCE who was a complete waste compared to what they gave up. They got freaking lucky that Purdy seems to have talent that every other team missed 6 times in the draft. Draft is a crap shoot and Vikings draft luck seems to suck a lot in recent years. Maybe flushing the scouting department was a good move? We have to wait another year for that. I am thinking our luck still sucks.

Only 36 QB's have "won" a SB. That's it. "Finding" one is the fools errand IMHO. Building a team from the core out that can win a SB is the key. Sure, you need a pressure performer at that position but the balance of the team is what "wins" superbowls.
The QB isn't our biggest issue, the core of the lines is. No mistake that Purdy is flourishing behind a line that can do what SF's does game after game.

It didn't end with Purdy merely having talent though. It took every QB on the roster getting hurt throughout the season for Purdy to see the field. Then they made a bold ass decision to pull the plug on their big investment despite Purdy's injury. They were obviously right... It paid off.
They got "lucky" via preparation and dedication to success in the field. I tend to believe there are dozens of GMs that would have put Purdy right back on the bench to "develop" their guy.
And they have done the exact same thing THIS year (they refused to put Purdy on the PS last year when making their 53.) They moved Lance, instead of making him QB3, because they like Brandon Allen.

I kind of liked him coming out of school and thought he would be a 4th or 5th rounder.

There are lots of receipts from experts watching early 49ers camp last year writing Purdy off - specifically his arm strength. Lots of comments how it's obvious why he's a 7th rounder... (it's really easy to just assume basic shit sometimes...)
The 49ers made a pointed decision to not just take him but keep him on the 53 man roster. When he came in and played good, they didn't make excuses for it. They remembered the reason they went and invested all that into Lance in the first place was because they wanted a quarterback! It's not rocket science. Maybe the "luck" is that Purdy made it so easy to call.
I think the Keenum contrasting was pretty good. We had a guy that got it done and the team scoffed at it (our opinions don't keep guys around). The FO had bigger ideas for the position.
Taylor Heinicke comes to mind as well just because he went on to start for a couple teams and many here had some strong feelings about him - imagine after that legendary pre-season drive the whole organization believes he has "it" too. The 49ers had Lance - we had Teddy and Shaun Hill. Our front office/coaching staff/organization was so fixated/distracted/enamored by Teddy Bridgewater our "QB Plan" that Heinicke bounced around the bottom of our roster before we just let him go on an injury settlement. I'm not saying dude was Purdy level by any means - but many fans on the boards knew he could play. Our QB position behind Teddy was intentionally embarrassing...
