Verlander vs Ober
4:45 PM ET / FS1
Bailey Ober getting the call-in game one over Joe Ryan
which sets up Lopez and Gray to return in games 2 & 3.

I agree with the move to start Ober instead of Ryan based on their recent starts. I think with Maeda and Paddack available in the bullpen for middle relief that Ryan maybe gets bumped to start Game 4 (if necessary).

I haven't seen the rosters posted yet for this series but Ryan for a potential game 4 makes sense
and then game 5 on Friday could be Lopez again or possibly Ober. A sweep would be nice but seems unlikely.
It's probably more likely the Twins get swept I don't want to sound negative but that's a distinct possibility
unless we score some runs, 3 & 2 runs isn't going to cut it against the Astros. Need our bats to show up.

The Twins made only one minor tweak to their playoff roster ahead of the American League Division Series,
sticking with a split of 14 position players and 12 pitchers while swapping out rookie left-handed reliever
Kody Funderburk for Game 1 starter Bailey Ober.

I wonder if they’d bring Buxton back if the Twins advance to the next round?

Rocco and Falvey said the Twins aren't going to rule out Royce Lewis playing third base at some point this series.
Lewis took grounders as part of yesterday's practice and is improving. They're open to it if he keeps getting better and shows he can make the tough plays.

They're open to it if he keeps getting better and shows he can make the tough plays. I would use Castro or Farmer at 3B until Lewis can return. Polanco's 3B defense is too much of a liability but Baldelli won't listen to my suggestion.

They want Polanco’s bat in the lineup at the expense of his defense at third base. Ideally, Lewis can play third base, move Polanco back to second base, and have Julien DH.
Polanco with a first inning single off Verlander. Two on and no outs for Lewis, but he grounds into a double play.

Should’ve started Ryan?
