I think we need a couple of additions at NT, 3rd WR.
NT I still want a big NT (Wilfork, Casey Hampton). The options are very limited out there. Two I like: * The Commanders are stacked at DT. Allen, Payne, Mathis, Newton, John Ridgeway. Ridgeway is 6'5' 321 Mathis 6'4' 320 I would love to trade or pick up one of them - Ridgeway or Mathis. (Pat Jones for one of them?) * Bryan Mone - 6'3" 345 - former Michigan product. Sat out last year with a knee injury - veteran and a run stuffer. Can backup Harrison Phillips Should be healthy by camp. Tough and Aggressive.
WR I like Tyler Boyd but I think Marquez Valdes-Scantling is a better fit. 6'4" 206 - great speed. Better separation than Harry. I like him at the outside, with either Addison or Jefferson coming out of the slot. I like Powell at 4 and Sherfield at the 5th spot because he can play all the special teams. Nailor has to show me something this year to make the team.
P.S. I love the free agent Doug Nester. But at guard. He is nasty and moves better than people think. Practice Squad this year and then 53 next year.

Of the FA WRs, the two you mentioned are the only two Iβd consider as well.
I think after week 1, weβll resign Cam Akers. No reason to do so now - he wonβt be cleared to play in OTAs or training camp, and if you wait till after week 1, his salary wonβt be guaranteed.

I want a big NT as well and was hoping to get T'Vondre Sweat from Texas in the draft, but with limited picks, that was pretty hard to accomplish when he went early in the second round. I agree also that targeting Washington as a trade partner would be ideal with their depth at the position, but I doubt it works out sadly. Mone is a big boy that would help for sure, but coming off an ACL with that body would worry me. We needed to build through the draft at this position, IMO as the FA market for DTs is beyond slim. I am not an MVS fan. He is unreliable and the Chiefs found that out painfully this season. He has the tools to be a perfect #3 with his size and speed, but we already had inconsistencies with Osborn that could rear it's ugly head again with MVS. Boyd is far more consistent and I would take him over the rest, but he's also getting up there in age at 29, so something to consider. I have always liked Sterling Sheppard, but his health and his age (31) are not great either. I also thought Josh Reynolds would have been a great addition, but he signed with Denver. The Chiefs got a steal, IMO for Marquise Brown for $7M/yr. He would have been my ideal FA WR.

I like Mecole Hardman as a #3. The Vikings did pursue him last year...

Hardman definitely has the speed, and a better catch percentage than the bigger guys. Would love for size / speed, as that can add a RZ dimension and help in βjump ballβ situations, but would probably just take speed. The fact that KC took him back, and he was immediately productive is a good sign. But they also donβt look to be resigning him, and his failure with the Jets is worrisome.
on the DL side, while I would also like a big NT, not so sure that Flores likes them that much.
Am going to keep pounding the table for signing Marlon Davidson as a reclamation project. He was a good prospect coming in, has shown flashes of production, and would be able to play all 3 spots on the DL. I think Davidson (potentially) fits what Flores likes from his DE, in particular, at least if he is coachable.

Mecole Hardman is a good option - I do like the speed and the experience.
Didn't really look at Davidson... but he certainly fits that 5T at 6'3" 303 - interesting to see if they bring in another at that position. I am beginning to think Flores doesn't just want a big DT but three big but mobile guys

For NT; we all seem to point out the 320# plus guys, and Flores doesn't really bite. He had Tonga, but mostly de-emphasized him until injuries forced PT.
They signed 2 UDFA from Pac-12 schools, but I would count on one making the roster and only as a Practice Squad. He wants the 290-305# dudes in, and just two in most sets with all the Edge guys playing - if healthy!
I am not confident the D would truly hold up to a dedicated run attack like the Gorilla with a laptop (D. Campbell!) and LeFleur will do with their bigger OLs and backs in those four divisional games.

I'm thinking we are pretty well set on the D line. We signed some decent sized guys with length in free agency (Jerry Tillery, Jihad Ward and Jonah Williams). Add those guys to the hold overs of Phillips, Roy and Bullard. Drafted a project in the 7th round, Rodriguez. It's certainly better than what we had in 2023 and I thought our run D was pretty good after the first 4 games.

I think Blake Brandel will perform well at G. They seem pretty high on him.

They might pick up a FA or two this year, but I think they're done with trades. Most trades are players for draft picks, and they've pretty much splurged the bank already. I would be surprised if Kwesi was prepared to start raiding 2026 picks before 2025. He's never been reticent to trade away picks, but he's never gone 2 future years deep.
Could he go player for player? When is the last time someone did that in the NFL? Who would he trade, and for whom?

I like Mecole Hardman as a #3.Β The Vikings did pursue him last year... Wouldnβt touch him. I know the Jets are a weird organisation, but he quit on them in a game. Not the guy you want.

I think Blake Brandel will perform well at G. They seem pretty high on him. We will know for sure if they don't sign anyone else. From what I saw last year, he looks like he'll be a good run blocking G. But he looked very shaky in pass pro. Reminded me a lot of one of Doug's other favorite lineman from a few years ago! That said, I hope they are right and all goes well. At some point we need to fix the interior of both lines.
