PFF college had Brandel graded out as the top pass blocking T in FBS. His arm length and lack of great footspeed always meant a move to Guard was likely.
I see the Vikings addressing and developing the interior line needs nicely. Added Ingram, promoting Brandel and drafted Walter Rouse.
I still have concerns about Bradbury and his health specifically.

For Bradbury, I say that Jurgens drafted later (7) is a very decent prospect to become the backup there - the new Schlottman.
He offers some more size, and has a track of many starts without injuries, but will need a season of development.
I hope they never draft a center in round one again - few teams will do that anymore.

Boyd signed with Titans for 1 year, 4.5 mil, think we should have been all over that, he would have been a huge upgrade at the 3rd WR.

Powell is fine as a Slot, but if JJ or Addison go down with injury for any length of time Powell cannot replace either on the outside effectively. Not sure what the plan is, but when you look at some of the talents we passed on that signed at modest prices at positions of need in FA.....it's kind of a head scratcher. Granted those guys have to want to come here, so that part is out of our control, but it never sounded like we were even in on Boyd or some of the others. Anyone know how much cap we have left? And what the hell is the deal with Jefferson's contract? I know I get blasted for being critical of Kwesi's labored contract negotiations....but we are now almost 12 days past drafting McCarthy and still nothing on Jefferson. Either lock the dude down or trade him if he doesn't want to be here. If we are going to resign and drop his cap hit for 24, it should would be nice to get that done before all the talent goes off the board! And if he doesn't want to come back here then we definitely need to find another WR!

I was looking over our depth chart and another area we are unbelievably thin at is LB. We have Pace, Cashman and then a bunch of nobody's. Dye clearly got the call before Asamoah last year when Hicks got injured (which should frighten everyone) and CBS now has Asamoah listed 3rd on the Depth Chart behind Grugier Hill who is 29 and on his 7th team in 9 years. Given Cashman has battled the injury bug the majority of his career....this appears to be an area that should be a concern as well. I know we have some OLBs that could potentially move inside, but I'd think we'd prefer to keep our OLB in rotation than kick them inside full time. I'd think most would be better suited to moving inside on passing downs but not full time. Anyway...we don't have much there and with Cashman's injury history I can't believe we go into the season with nothing behind them.
It will be interesting to see how many draftees from the 1st draft make it out of camp this year. Ingram, Chandler and Muse may be the only draft pics to survive (tho I think they'll for certain keep at least one of Evans/Booth).

Is it time to PANIC? I like the Viking roster. A tweak or two as the season gets close would not surprise me but nice talent and depth. Going to be a great season.

Donβt think this is an issue. addendum - I wouldnβt be surprised if the two UDFA edges get long looks at ILB, both for blitzing and otherwise (though not green dot).

I'd like to think you are right on Asamoah, but he barely even got snaps last year which tells me something isn't right with him and Flores. Yes, VG can play inside, but that then leaves us short on OLB rotation AND VG is more suited to play inside on passing downs from what I understand (that is based on what I've read but I could be wrong. My understanding is he can play inside and blitz/cover on passing downs). As to the Blitzing, that is fine on passing downs, but we also need some ILB that can stop the run because our IDL SUCKs! If your Int DL is weak and your Int LB's are weak (which they would be if we lose one) that's a major problem in stopping the run. And if you can't stop the run without selling out, your not going anywhere in the playoffs. It simply leaves you too exposed.

As we saw with Cine and a few others, Flores is very tough on players when it comes to scheme knowledge. Failing to pick up the scheme reasonably quickly is a quick way into his doghouse.
I think that is what happened with Asamoah - he ended up in Floresβ doghouse because he didnβt pick up the scheme quickly enough. But I also think that chances are that after a full season, Asamoah will be more up to speed and be able to earn more snaps. He didnβt seem to have as many issues in terms of that as compared to Cine pre-Flores.
Speculation, but with underlying rationale. And if not, plenty of FA at LB out there who can be reserves. Including Barr.

Outside chance for UDFAs Gant and Richter agree with this, I think one of these two will make the 53 on ST and back-up ILB and the other should stick on PS

The good news is, we have players with upside at most of our positions of need. Roy, Brandel, Ingram, Blackmon and even Evans. We only need one of them to work out. We can easily sign 4 starters next year in addition to drafting someone.
I don't think we'll that great with Darnold at QB, but once/if JJ can pick things up, we should be back to being competitive.
