It may be that the Vikes are best off on the WR front waiting a bit and seeing who gets let go later on. There is actually a decent amount of WR depth/talent around the league right now, and some teams are going to let go of some talented players.

Maybe they are waiting to pull some of the better receivers out of the UFL.

Boyd would be the best plug and play guy for certain. Like another poster said though - Iβd like to see them find a size/speed guy that can add a consistent deep threat to the offense.

Good memory watching Steelers steal from the Bears on the Claypool trade.

You've got it all wrong. He just needed a full off-season to get acclimated to our team, our coaches, our playbook, etc. You don't think that helps? It helped Reagor. He had very nice preseason,Β despite all the people that were so certain that would never happen.Β Β His preseason was so impressive that we released him... It was obvious we were showcasing him against inferior talent in the hopes that some GM out there would bite and give us a 7th for a guy that was going to get cut anyway. 31 other GMs failed to be gullible enough, but I can't blame Kwesi for the attempt. Reagor couldn't even get on the field for a terrible Patriots team that had by far the worst offensive skill personnel in the league. Their top "weapon" was a 6th round rookie receiver from Liberty named Pop Douglas that you've never heard of until reading it just now.

Just saying, but Davis has never been in a good situation before and there might be something there. I started talking Boyd during the draft and he would make good short term sense as a guy that can come in and do the job and could play a top #2 spot if there is an injury. MVS has always been a "if just" guy that tends to cost more then you want for what the actual player brings. He just doesn't have a lot to project forward with and has had chances in good situations.

Brining in someone late (mid season) usually doesnβt work out great. You want time to build familiarity with playbook and QB.
my concern is that beyond the top 2, we have a quantity over quality approach to WR. (similar at DL). They need a legit #3. Ideally not a possession reciever given tp#1 and #2, while more than that, are still more towards the possession end of the spectrum than the deep threat end.
hope they address it.

I like Boyd if we could add him. I do think he plays strictly slot but could be wrong about that.

Not really any info out there currently about Vikings interest in free agent receivers. They do have a lot of guys already on the roster, quite a few no-names. They could be waiting for a good vet to get cut but maybe these guys fight it out. Here's the list outside of JJ/Addison.
So 11 guys fighting for 4 spots I guess? They probably bring back Powell and I think Harry's in because they like his blocking. So two of the other 9 could make it. I looked at highlight videos for some of them, all look pretty decent. Maybe Knowles stood out, looked dominant at times. A lot of them returned kicks:
Devron Harper 35 WR Looks fast, returned kicks. 5-9 170 23 R Mercer University, Atlanta
N'Keal Harry 13 WR 6-4 225 26 6 Arizona State
Lucky Jackson 81 WR 6-0 186 26 1 Western Kentucky
Trishton Jackson 8 WR 6-1 191 26 3 Syracuse
Ty James 85 WR Bigger guy, smooth running style. Didn't see kick returns. 6-2 200 23 R Mercer
Jeshaun Jones 82 WR Had a rushing TD, receiving TD, and passing TD in his first game! 6-1 188 24 R Maryland Didn't see kick returns.
Malik Knowles 19 WR Big-time kick returner, runs nice routes, good after the catch. 6-2 196 23 1 Kansas State
Jalen Nailor 83 WR 6-0 190 25 3 Michigan State
Brandon Powell 4 WR 5-8 181 28 7 Florida
Trent Sherfield Sr. 11 WR 6-1 206 28 7 Vanderbilt
Thayer Thomas 89 WR Returned kicks, threw a nice TD pass on a trick play. 6-0 195 25 1 N.C. State

I'm intrigued by Malik Knowles. He has all the tools to turn into a very good W3, with the ability to play any WR spot, as well as an excellent returner.
He basically redshirted last season, due to the knee injury, but the Vikes picked him up knowing that was the plan.
Hopefully we will find out he has "it" as things start to roll here soon.
