I know Powell was decent last year but I think the roster has a glaring spot for a 3 or 4 WR. KJ is far from replaceable and there are FAs available. Now that they have been waiting for a contract it's time for some of them to lower their $ expectations and get a contract.
Tyler Boyd Odell Beckham Jr. Michael Thomas Hunter Renfrow Jauan Jennings (49ers assigned RFA tender) Mecole Hardman Marquez Valdes-Scantling Michael Gallup Corey Davis Julio Jones D.J. Chark Russell Gage Allen Robinson Alex Erickson Lynn Bowden Scotty Miller Jalen Guyton Randall Cobb Chase Claypool Sterling Shepard Robbie Chosen Richie James Jakeem Grant

Boyd would make some sense as a vet that can play all over the place and provide some stability. Lot of those guys are kind of slot only.
Michael Thomas on talent alone would be worth bringing in to kick the tires on, but he is kind of a head case these days and I would think bad for the locker room.
Corey Davis maybe?
I mean I like Renfrow, but he is kind of slot only.
Other thing is the guy can't be expensive.

I like Hardman as a target if he will come on a prove it deal. Didn't the Vikings have interest last year?

WR3 and WR4 need to play ST, so a lot of these vets really donβt fit. That said, I would really like it if the Vikes added a (non-head case) size/speed deep / RZ target. Too bad Claypool is a head case. Is Mims still out there? Maybe he has gotten over his βno STβ arrogance.

They signed Sherfield who has the potential to be a solid 3/4 WR in addition to Powell and Nailor and also still have Trishton Jackson so they may feel like they have options. I was thinking they would take a shot on a WR in the 7th, thought they would go for JJ's teammate WR Johsnon who would have been a nice pick there.

You need a guy that can lineup at all the receiver spots and fill in for one of the starters. Powell is great, but he can't play all the spots. Once again seldom do true #3 WR's get used on coverage teams. They are to valuable.

I also donβt see us having any real depth there. Itβs almost mind blowing to me after watching JJ miss 6sh weeks with an injury we didnβt draft a WR or Sign a WR in FA as a priorityβ¦especially given Addisonβs frame makes him a prime candidate to get dinged up. Iβll be shocked if we donβt sign one after the 1st.

If you can live with a few drops MVS could be an interesting fit. Defense will pay attention to him to know when he is on the field.
Beyond that I see Chark as serviceable off that list.

He knows this role and would be perfect at the right price

βAll heβs done since he got here β heβs physical in the run game,β Vikings head coach Kevin OβConnell told reporters Wednesday, per the team. βHe provides something a little different at his size than we have in the room. We have many capable blockers but he brings a level of physicality.β
βAnd then contested catch, you guys probably saw a lot of the plays he made in training camp in 1-on-1 situations,β
βThen I think he fits as a savvy, kind of a guy thatβs played some football, fits in that group really well.
βDifferent skillset, but yet we can find ways for him to be effective and looking forward to seeing him get a little bit more involved.β

I would love to see him step up and take the #3 by by perfromance but he does have a bit of history as not being that good of a WR. A first round pick in 2019 he has been a but of a bust, but he has to know that this may be his last best chance. Harry is very different from KJ, as he is more of a physical WR. To be the #3 he would have to stay healthy, which has been a challenge for him, he was waived by the Vikings with an injury designation Aug. 24. He has to be a profecient route runner that can be counted on to catch the ball. He had 0 receptions for the Vikings last year, JJ was on IR for weeks when he was evaluated to the 53.
