GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah: "Training camp is a critical aspect of what we do. ... We have a special group of fans and we think they're really going to like this team."
GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah said he got a text after minicamp from Harrison Phillips who said, "I can't wait to get these pads on" for training camp.
Kwesi Adofo-Mensah says it's been exciting walking around the building and seeing players again.
"There were a lot of guys who were on a personal mission this summer, a lot of guys who really bought into the plans we had for them. We can't wait to see them out on the field."
GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, when asked about keeping eyes on what Green Bay is doing: "The first path to getting into that dance is winning your division.
GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah on Kevin O'Connell: "I couldn't be more happy with what he is. The detail. The attention (to detail).''
GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah said he hasn't gotten any information yet from the medical people on whether any of the veterans reporting today will start on the physically unable to perform list (PUP).
Kevin O'Connell: "Training camp's going to be in my opinion kind of the next phase."
Kevin O'Connell: "We're moving into the competition phase." He said he's excited to see this team start to take shape while still trying to stress fundamentals and technique.
Kevin O'Connell says when the Vikings have the pads on this summer, they'll be full go."When we're going, we gotta go. When we put those pads on, it's just not that many opportunities. For our players to feel prepared, there's no other way than to be full go and compete."

I don't think it's that complicated. I suspect that it's tightly connected to use of the word "competition" vs in the spring, when KOC always used terms like "culture/team building," and "teaching/learning." Now, every rep is about winning roster spots. Guys need to be mentally focused, and show that they know what's expected, and that they can perform, even when it's in shorts and shells. And in fully loaded practices, he wants game-level intensity and execution.

Oh absolutely and I am not against the lighter contact approach myself, but it is really hard to judge line play on both sides until full contact portions. As far as I understand Bradbury for instance looks like an All Pro in shorts and half shells making the calls and showing his superior athletic ability at the position. Ed Ingram they will get a good idea of how quickly he is picking up the scheme and all that. I do not think it makes much difference for WR's and DB's (except for tackling technique for DB's). I knew it would be lighter then under Zim, but I do not think they go full pads for 7 or 8 days. And some positions just cant be properly evaluated until they are in full pads.

Aren't they limited to something like 11 full pad practices for the entire camp because of the CBA?

There is a cap of full pads practices under the CBA and the current KOC staff chose to go under that number for their own personal reasons.
Hopefully, this pans out for the good in health, but doesn't sacrifice any physicality for this team overall.
