Twins will need at least a split of the opening 2 games in NY so Berrios or Odorizzi will have to come thru with their "A" game and the hitters need to focus on making contact (not just swinging from the heels for HR but getting singles and doubles) and not leaving men on base like they've been wont to do lately.

Buckle up, it should be fun. Two teams with over 300 homers. Will be some football scores and late nights.

Rocco Baldelli says Arraez is doing “really well” but has “no public thought” on his status. He’s walking around, going “through the ringer” to get back.

Ehire Adrianza claims that he feels 100 percent and has hit breaking balls off the machine. He was supposed to take live BP today but that was put on hold due to rain.

The Twins have some difficult roster decisions to make. Depending upon how many pitchers they carry, 1 or 2 of the following players will be out.
Adrianza Astudillo Arraez Gonzalez Castro
It'll be less of a decision if any of the above aren't recovered from recent Injuries. If Arraez and Gonzalez are healthy they will be on the roster, as will Castro. That means either Adrianza or Astudillo are out if they carry 12 pitchers, both if they think they need to carry 13 pitchers.

Rocco: Arraez’s ankle has improved to the point where they have to seriously consider putting him on the playoff roster.

Arraez is sufficiently recovered from his ankle injury to be included in the Twins' 25 man post season roster. Adrianza also made it. Twins will go with the 12 pitchers.

Berrios able to survive some shaky moments in the 1st 2 innings but Twins still up 1-0 after 1st inning HR by Polanco. Berrious is up in the pitch count (nearly 50 after 2) so the bullpen needs to be ready when needed.

Twins up 2-0 after another solo shot this time by Cruz. Both homers were on fastballs (Yankees pitcher's is only average and hes' been getting by mainly relying on his good, but not great breaking stuff).

Yanks up 3-2 now. Not Berrios' fault. Arreaz (clearly not 100%) couldn't get to a seeing eye single and then couldn't turn an inning ending doubleplay, whch was more Cron's fault as he couldn't backhand a good throw to first) resulting in 2 unearned runs. Equally important is that Berrios' pitch count is now 76 thru 3. The Twins briefly had Duffey up but then swapped Zittell warming up just in case but Berios still has his velocity and blew a 3rd strike to end the inning.

Twins hitters swinging at pitches low out of the zone (breaking stuff) leading to an easy 1, 2 3 inning for the Yanks. Berrios bounces back and matches it. He looks like he's found his release point on his slider and his fastball velocity is still at 94-95 (altho his pitch count is now at 88 after only 4).

Naturally, on a 3-2 count with a breaking ball pitcher, Cron swings at a pitch that wasn't even close (bounced before it got to the plate) to lead off the 5th. Where's the roll eyes emoticon when you need it.
Not all is lost. Arreaz just got a seeing a eye double t center (coulda been a triple of fully healthy) so the Twins have something going. But, Garver on a 3-2 pitch swings at a pitch in the dirt just past the plate. Polanco comes thru with a clutch 2 out line drive single after falling behind in the count (swinging at low pitches out of the zone).
Yanks pull Paxton (actually he has 98mph heater so he has above average velocity but not in the 1st 2 innings) with Cruz now stepping to the plate. Cruz down 0-2, able to draw a walk and in hte midst of the AB, Polanco stole 2nd (only their 4 steal since the AS break). Yanks switch pitchers to face Rosario. Rosario unfortunately doesn't come thru.
Game tied 3-3.

Baldelli inexplicably to start the 5th, he takes Berrios out after he finally found his release point on his breaking stuff and Littel promptly issues a walk, uncorks a WP getting the runner to 2nd and hits the next guy up. Duffey now in. Got the 1st with an SO, walked the 2nd and on 3-2 Sano misplays a hard grounder (off his glove) down the line that turns into a 2 run double. SO's the next 2.
Give the Yanks credit; they're disciplined and don't swing at pitches low or in the dirt like the Twins.

Sano hits an a flyball that would be routine out anywhere else that only goes into the 2 row in right field to hit an opposite field lead off HR.
Doesn't anybody else on this site care about the Twins?? Come on guys (and gals) the Vikes don't play until Sunday. The Twins have a good enough team to make the WS.
