ALEXANDER MATTISON RB, MINNESOTA VIKINGS
Coach Mike Zimmer said Vikings third-round RB Alexander Mattison has shown "great maturity." Mattison is a big, bruising back who is expected to take over the Latavius Murray role as backup to Dalvin Cook. Last year at Boise State, Mattison carried the rock 302 times and had 27 receptions, so he has some fantasy upside purely as a late-round handcuff given his three-down skill set.

Would love to see a 70/30 split with Cook. Keep Dalvin healthy and provide a change of pace.

Very excited about Mattison. I have high expectations of him and a great find by our scouts

He is a guy I am rooting for big time... Think you need multiple backs in today's NFL...

Chris Tomasson @christomasson #Vikings Gary Kubiak: "The first thing that strikes me is that (Alexander Mattison) handles himself like a vet. Heβs a very mature kid, heβs very fortunate that heβs watching the guy ahead of him (Dalvin Cook)... Weβre asking a lot of him and so far, heβs made a lot of progress."

I like what I am seeing from him so far. He has power and that definitely favors him. He is always working and quick to get over to the coaches. He talks with Dalvin a lot which is good. He has good instincts.

I am very familiar with him when he played in Boise. I was very surprised he lasted on the board as long as he did. The kid is a badass and we are lucky to have him.

The coaching staff absolutely loves this kids approach to football and life. One of the most humble guys you could ever meet. At Boise..., you could just watch defenses in the late 3rd and 4th quarters, almost quit trying to tackle him. Not the fastest, but has a good burst and welcomes contact.

Was very happy when I watched this lads tape. I have really high hopes for him. I think he's an upgrade over Murray, we should finally have another back who can actually get short yardage when needed.

Looking forward to seeing this young man tote the rock. By all accounts he seems to be a complete back and can bring the lumber in traffic. Good feet but most importantly good vision and balance.

I'm looking forward to see Mattison and Hollins the most these preseason games.

I'm looking forward to see Mattison and Hollins the most these preseason games. I'm actually looking forward to Mattison, Bradbury, and Irv Smith the most. I am geeked up for this to begin. If what Vikegirl says is true, Mattison is becoming one of my favorite new additions. To have a guy who wants to learn is so refreshing in this day and age with these athletes.
