Kyle "Human Rain Relay" Gibson doesn't even last 2 innings. 3 hits and 4 walks, Royals got to him for 3 runs (could have been worse).

Cruz just hit a 3 run opposite field HR. 38 homers for the year (probably will get to 40) and now has 100 ribbies. Sano follows with a solo shot. Twins up 4-3.

Twins hold on to win 4-3. It wasn't pretty. Twins outhit 7-5 but made the most out of theirs. Sano with a bad throwing error opening the 8th that allowed the Royals to claw back with 2 runs. May (not Rogers) closed it out.
Twins magic number at 5 (Indians beat the Phillies).

Twins were up 5-2 with Berrios on the mound until he gave up a 3 run shot in the 6th. Duffy and Romo pitched perfect innings. Rogers brought in the 9th in a tied game but gave up 3 runs (including a 2 run HR). Hildenberger then gave up 4 straight hits turning a tied game into a rout (10-5) in the top of the 9th with the Royals still at bat (bases loaded) going for more.
Indians are losing 8-4 in the 9th so if that holds up, it will take any combination of 4 Twins wins or Indians losses. Twins squandered an opportunity to make it 3 to clinch.

Rogers (why bring him in a tied game?) sucked, Hildenberger sucked, Alcala sucked (just walked in a run with the bases loaded). Now 12-5 Royals. I place the blame on Baldelli and his bizarre use of the bullpen.
Update: Indians lost so the magic number is now 4

Twins off to a fast start. 6-0 after 1. Indians don't play until tonight. Another loss would be s-w-e-e-t.

Prob is that Perez, who was shaky in the 1st inning (threw 32 pitchs), gave back 5 over the next 2 innings (1 Hr, 2 doubles) to the Royals so the led is only 1.

Twins get 1 back with a 2nd HR b y Sano (hit a 3 run job in the 1st) only to have Littell give 1 back to the Royals.

Twins up the lead to 2, 8-6, on a solo HR by Cruz. His 400th career homer. Congrats to Nelson.

Twins win 12-8 but not without some drama in the 9th as Romero and Romo combined for 5 walks and gave up 2 runs.
Indians down 1-0 in the 3rd.

The rout is on. Indians 10-1 over the Phillies in the 8th. Mike Morin, formerly with the Twins, gave up 4 of the 6 runs the Tribe scored in the 7th (without recording an out).
