The Vikings should add Houston. I think we would be a real real nasty defense if we got Houston opposite Hunter with the 2 big boys in the middle. Barr and Kendricks. Harry the Hitman, Pat Pete, Breeland and Woods. With Mackensie and Danzler as well. Pretty sick.

I donβt think he would take a contract the Vikings could afford

I agree with both of you haha. He would be a great player to have as he can still rush the qb pretty well, and he would suit our defence as heβs strong against the run as well. But we wonβt be able to afford him, especially once we probably pay Hunter

Maybe Hunter should play a year on his current contract to prove he is healthy. But apparently nobody cares about actually winning a Super Bowl I guess.

If they give Hunter a raise, they can't win a Super bowL?? If they sign Houston and Hunter plays on his current contract, they can't win a super bowl??

Oh, ok, that makes sense.Β It is all about money now, nobody really cares about winning. Not for guys like Brady and Gronk. I don't think that's the case for guys like Kendricks, either. He plays like a wild man, even after getting a big contract. Just look at the attendance at voluntary OTAs. Guys who are in it only for a paycheck don't show up until it's mandatory. Hunter has only himself and his agent to blame, if he's unhappy with his contract, but if he is fully healthy, he's right that his contract is way too low-priced.

But because of his neck, he needs to play this year under is current contract. Then we can reward him next year, if he stays healthy and is the beast we all remember and love.

It comes down to how players see themselves, and how they perceive that the team sees them. You and I go, "Damn, that's a lot of money." Guys like Hunter look at it and go, "my stats put me in the top five in sacks in both 2018 and 2019, and also in tackles by a DL player, but my pay for those years were 9th and 13th highest, respectively." Going into this year, he's still 13th in average salary, $6.4M less than Frank Clark, who is 5th highest paid, and almost $13M lower average than Joey Boss. I still say they should take a page out of the Falcons book with Julio Jones, and offer to pull $7M forward from follow-on years as a signing bonus, with an agreement to renegotiate next year. It would cost a bit more than $2M in cap space (assuming bonus is prorated over three years), but if Hunter is healthy, he's worth it.

Well, with Richardson, no room for another DL ... but I think Richardson gets plenty of base down DE reps, letting the youngins focus on narrower roles.
