My big question is: why no wide receivers or tight ends? We do have a place kicker- Greg Joseph Here is link regarding his NFL history. www.vikings.com/team/players-roster/greg-joseph/

Show me one draft that Rick and Vikings didn't trade up or down...
Just saying.

We need more work on the offensive line. Another guard is needed imo. Also as mentioned we need another wide receiver and punt returner.

Getting in on the fun, mock draft fever, even sprung for the $10 so I could do trades on thedraftnetwork.com site. So here goes:
First up, I traded down from 14. Three offers, Colts, Steelers, Patriots. No interest in moving down one spot, no to New England. Colts offered 21 and maybe a 3rd/4th? I didn't like the deal because I'm trying to get into the 2nd round. Steelers offered a 3rd and 6th, I countered with 14/143 (last 4th) for 24 and 55 (2nd), they accepted. Value chart shows us at 1135 vs. 1090, even deal. FYI, the Steelers used their picks for Vera-Tucker (14) and Rodarius Williams (143).
*Side note: I was open to making trades but everything that came in was asinine. I had teams willing to give me extra picks to move down, it didn't make sense. Nothing offered to me seemed plausible in reality so I declined everything unfortunately, I was actually hoping to have some realism because we all know Rick moves around but it didn't play out that way*
On to our picks:
24. Samuel Cosmi, OT, Texas
Still on the board: Landon Dickerson/Liam Eichenberg/Dillon Radunz. I like Cosmi because he fits the exact mold of the type of guy we go after (O'Neill/Cleveland). Radunz gave me pause but Cosmi has really grown on me lately and he's the exact reason why I think we can both get a 2nd AND get a guy we like, win-win.
55. Gregory Rousseau, EDGE, Miami
Still on the board: Ronnie Perkins/Joseph Assai/Carlos Basham Jr./Payton Turner. How do you pass on Rousseau at 55? I'm not thinking it's likely he's here but in the mock draft world, you take him. Any reason why he would fall?
78. Richie Grant, S, UCF
Still on the board: Ifeatu Melifonwu/Tyson Campbell. I personally think Grant is gone in the 2nd but again, mock draft. I'd be over the moon if we got Grant as our safety of the future in the 3rd.
90. Kyle Trask, QB, Florida
Still on the board: Kellen Mond/Jamie Newman. Again, probably gone late 1st or 2nd, he's there at the end of the 3rd. I chose him over the others because I "believe" the Vikings value the prototype pocket passer types. He comes in and learns under Cousins which is exactly what he needs.
119. Dayo Odeyingbo, EDGE, Vanderbilt
Still on the board: Victor Dimukeje/Hamilcar Rashed Jr./Cameron Sample. I love Dayo here, so versatile, he can play everywhere, Patterson would mold the hell out of a guy like this. Also coming from Vandy where we've had success (Weatherly). Note: I end up not taking an IDL in this draft because I feel like after taking both Rosseau and Odeyingbo, we've accomplished our D-line goals.
125. Dylan Moses, LB, Alabama
Still on the board: This is a spot to take an IOL, Aaron Banks/Kendrick Green/David Moore. I gamble and assume one of them is still available at 134 and I take Moses. A versatile LB who flashed playmaker ability against top notch college competition, I couldn't pass on him. I've seen him going all over from the 2nd to the 4th so again I don't know how realistic he is here. He could actually be good enough to see the field ahead of Vigil and Dye IMO.
134. David Moore, IOL, Grambling
Still on the board: No contemplation, he was the only one left (from above) and I love him as a Guard prospect. A nasty run blocker who plays aggressive, feels like the kind of guy who can be developed into our future RG.
157. Dazz Newsome, WR, North Carolina
Still on the board: Anthony Schwartz/Marlon Williams/Shi Smith. No brainer, we need a guy who can at least compete with Osborn for the end of the WR depth chart and punt returner. Newsome is literally the perfect guy to do that, I LOVE this pick.
168. Shakur Brown, CB, Michigan State
Still on the board:Β Bryce Thompson/Thomas Graham Jr./Deo Lenoir. Shakur Brown perfectly fits the mold of a Zimmer project corner. He's aggressive and feisty but raw, there is plenty of depth at CB right now to let this guy learn and develop.
199. Simi Fehoko, WR, Stanford
Still on the board: Nobody so important that we can't consider them for UDFA, I thought about looking into a trade down until I saw Fehoko here. If you've looked at Davis Mills highlights then you have definitely seen Fehoko and what he can do. What a tough dude who loves contact and making contested catches! Call me crazy but at 6'4", if he works on his blocking I don't see any reason why he can't be converted to TE. When you're talking end of the 6th, why not take some risks?
End result: I don't think this draft has any chance of happening which is too bad because I loved every pick and consider it a home run.

Agree, like all your picks and I think I would do the same trade and same pick in the first.

Nice when you get 2nd rounders like Weaver in mid 4th.

I will be making my draft prediction next week. What I have seen so far, is people thinking they will have players available in the middle rounds that will be gone by the end of the second round. My question is are some of you guys are dreaming about players you think will be available or are you using data boards? If you are using expert data, please let me know where you are getting your info. I would like to analyze it more.

I prefer to use the predictive board since it will consider team needs and not be robotic about the picks. If there is an aggregate compilation out there somewhere I'd love to find it. Most sites are trying to sell the person on their rankings of course. I look forward to seeing your predictions!

www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/big-boards/2021/consensus-big-board-2021This consensus big board of each player's overall ranking for the 2021 NFL Draft was compiled using 38 Big Board(s), 418 1st Round Mock Draft(s), and 507 Team Based Mock Draft(s). These numbers do not include ALL mock drafts in the database, but rather ones that are closest to the Draft date Just found this site a few days ago, so take it's accuracy with a grain of salt but they claim to have a lot of date combined.

I did a few simulations, and it looked like nothing special at 14, so I did a couple with 2 minor trade-ups using 3 of the 4 4 th rounders. In this one Waddle was available at 12, and another one Trey Lance was the pick. I also moved up to the top of the 3rd. This one was the one I liked the best because I think we would have good balance with some beef up front and another game breaker (Any of the top 3 wr would do). I did not emphasis DE because I think Wonnum is the real deal.
12
Round: 1 Jaylen Waddle
WR | Alabama 67
Round: 3 Trey Smith
IOL | Tennessee 90
Round: 3 Ben Cleveland
IOL | Georgia 119
Round: 4 Benjamin St-Juste
CB | Minnesota

Why almost entirely D when the OL is by FAR the weakest part of the team? OL in the 1st, then none until late 4th?
JMO, but I don't think this draft does much to help the team this year.

My question is are some of you guys are dreaming about players you think will be available or are you using data boards? If you are using expert data, please let me know where you are getting your info. I would like to analyze it more. The sites that monetize on line mock drafts intentionally mess with player rankings so people can get known players in the mid rounds. They are selling the people what they want. In reality top 100 players are usually pretty soundly vetted when you look at composite rankings across sites and usually you have 5 or so guys who fall out on draft day. We also tend to learn things about those guys that drop out of top 100 on day 3 as to the "why?" that were not common knowledge before hand. There will be a few surprises, but for most part top 50 will go in top 50 and top 100 in top 100. Trask and Weaver I highly doubt last until 119.
