I think the Vikes are looking at OL or DL in the first. I see a lot of speculation about DE, but I think Wonnum looked pretty good last year and you add Hunter coming back along with Pierce. Plus, Vikes have down well with 4th round DEs. So, I think OL in the first.
1. OL. Alija Vera-Tucker. I am guessing that Vikes cut Reiff and move Cleveland to OT. So they really need two OG. Maybe Dozier. They might trade down since there are other OL who could be taken with similar value in round one.
2. S. Trevon Moehrig. Vikes trade down, and have too many picks, so trade up to get a starting safety. Harris is gone.
3. Tommy Tremble, TE. I believe that Kyle Rudolph will be a cap casualty. Need two solid tight ends to make it go. Second third round pick traded to move up into the second round.
Still need depth at DL and LB.

Reiff is still on the roster, but the Vikes need to clear $5 million in salary cap space before the start of the new league year. So I still think he will be cut. I think they are trying to get a reworked contract. If they cut him, they need to fill two offensive line spots.
Vikes trade back in first round. They can draft OL in mid to late first round. They want to get back into the second round. I think they could move back 6-7 spots and get a second round pick plus maybe a 5th or 6th. Then draft:
1. Vera-Tucker, OL. Will play OG. Reiff or Cleveland play OT. 2. Trevon Moehrig, S. 3a. Tommy Tremble, TE. Need two TEs 3b. Dayo Odeyingbo, DE. Good rotation with Hunter, Wonnum, Weatherly and Odeyingbo and/or Willekes. Some options.
Still need LB depth, possibly CB, and DT.

Reiff is gone. The draft strategy depends upon how they look at Cleveland. If he is the next LT, then they draft a guard. If he is to stay at OG, then they draft a LT. They signed Tomlinson which is a very good signing. The defense improves a lot when the vikes can stop the run. The Vikes were 27th against the run. Having Tomlinson and Pierce will immediately upgrade and may allow the safeties to play deep. So, now vikes need OL, S, TE, and possibly DE in the draft.
1. OL. Alija Vera-Tucker. I thought I heard an announcer for one of the games say that coaches liked Cleveland for OT next year. I'm betting they go this route. Vera-Tucker is the best scheme fit. Might draft another OG later. I don't think they can trade back and do this.
3a. Talanoa Hufanga, S. 3b. Tommy Tremble, TE 3c. Trading up -- Day Odeyingbo.

The vikings have signed a safety who will be a likely starter. OL and TE are the two greatest needs. Then a rotational DE, backup LB. I'm guessing Cleveland to OT next year. They aren't announcing it so hide their interest in drafting Vera-Tucker. I believe they draft him at 14.
1. OG. Alija Vera-Tucker.
3a. Tommy Tremble, TE. 3b. Kendrick Green, OG. Double up on OL. I think the value will fall that way, and it's a need.
3c. Trade up: Day Odeyingbo, DE.
I also expect Vikes will trade out of this year and into next year.

With the recent events that have been made public about CB Jeff Gladney turning himself into the police in Dallas for assault on a female so CB will become a priority again. TE is not really that big of a priority. I agree with either OL or DL in the 1st rd. The Vikings could also move down a couple of spots and get a 2nd rd pick.

Right now, vikes have two tight ends. They definitely need a third. I'm not convinced that Conklin is a great pass-catching option. So I still TE as a need. Trading down sounds good to me. But that depends on the options. Tennessee (22) and Pittsburgh (24) would be good options, but you narrow your options. I feel like vikes have definite needs going into draft that limits their flexibility.
1. Slater, OT. I think Vera-Tucker is probably the best scheme fit. But OT has higher value. 3a. Jabril Cox. Barr is on a one-year deal. LB is a long-term need. 3b. Kendrick Green, OG.
4a. Ronnie Perkins, DE. Continuing the tradition of drafting DE in 4th.
4b. Tommy Tremble, TE 4c. Tay Gowan, CB. With the Gladney situation, CB is again a need. Zimmer won't start a rookie, so Gowan has time to develop.

Vikes try to trade away as many of the remaining picks as possible. Either to move up, or better to get more picks for next year. I think they only have 5 picks in 2022. So, they will need more ammo.

I'm not sure Vikes would draft a guard in the first round after drafting a center there a couple of years ago. They probably would draft Sewell, Slater, or Darrisaw, but I'm not sure any of those will be available. I would have thought they would get a shot at Slater or Darrisaw, but now I'm doubtful. So, other positions come into play.
I think the best available player will be Micah Parsons. And the Vikes need a LB. Barr is on a one-year deal. Parsons can play SLB. So it seems like a fit. It would actually be good value to get Parsons at 14. I'm not a fan of Kwity Paye at 14. He has too little production. Draft a guy for solid traits in the 4th round.
1. Parsons, LB 3a. Walker Little, OT. Bit of a risk as he hasn't play in a while. Higher risk, higher reward.
3b. Kendrick Green, OG. Good scheme fit. 4a. Jamar Johnson, S 4b. Tommy Tremble, TE 4c. Tay Gowan, CB. With the Gladney situation, CB is again a need. Zimmer won't start a rookie, so Gowan has time to develop. 4d. Daelin Hayes, DE

I had this thought that the Vikes might trade for Orlando Brown. They still have some cap room (7-8 million) and could work out a deal with him, pushing dollars into later years. The Ravens signed Villaneueva. Looks like they are ready to trade. Vikes won't do the trade until the draft. They want to disguise what they are doing, and they want to keep picks this year and trade next years pick. So, after the first round, they trade for Brown. They give up a second round pick from next year and a 4th round pick this year. Maybe enrich it a little and say its a first round pick next year if Brown makes the pro bowl or some other condition. That makes a lot of sense since Spielman and Zimmer might be in trouble if the team flounders this year.
1. Parsons, LB 3a. Payton Turner, DE 3b.

1. Darrisaw, OT. Vikes need an OT. If Sewell and Slater are drafted by 8, the vikes may trade up to 9, 10, or 11 to get Darrisaw. 3a. Kellen Mond, QB. The vikes will use this pick on a backup QB. Maybe he starts down the road, but at the moment, this is just an inexpensive backup. 3b. Kendrick Green, OG. Vikes keep using picks on OL. Need to field a decent OL.
4a. Jamar Johnson, S. 4b. Tommy Tremble, TE. They need two pass catching TEs. I believe they only have 2 TEs on the roster right now. 4c. Monty Rice, LB. 4d. Daelin Hayes, DE.

April 28, 2021. Final.
1. Darrisaw. OT. Vikes are pretty much hemmed in on taking an OL at this position. And that limits their ability to trade back. At 14 they should get the third OL off the board. If lucky, the second. Trading back to 20 or later means they are then looking at possibly the fourth or fifth off the board.
3a. Jabril Cox, LB. Barr is on a one-year deal. Depth at LB was an issue last year. 3b. Kendrick Green, OG. Vikes keep using picks on OL. Need to field a decent OL.
4a. Jamar Johnson, S. 4b. Tommy Tremble, TE. They need two pass catching TEs. I believe they only have 2 TEs on the roster right now. 4c. Marquez Stevenson, WR. Speed and potential returner. 4d. Daelin Hayes, DE.
5a. Feleipe Franks, QB. Inexpensive backup. 5b. Trade for next year's 4th from someone.
6. Evan McPherson, K. Yes, a kicker. I think they put him on the practice squad.
