The #Vikings renegotiated LT Riley Reiff’s contract and gave him a $1 million signing bonus -- making up for the $1 million playtime incentive he narrowly missed because he sat out the season finale on the COVID list, per source. A nice gesture from the Wilf family to step up.

I'm glad Reiff renegotiated his contract and will be on the team next season. As far as a starting offense, we just need a guard. We also need a 4th round wide receiver.

They need to build that oline with playoff caliber fronts in mind or you’ll be sitting here watching the playoffs again. Just making the playoffs is not enough you gotta be able to advance.

Not sure you would if you were going to get rid of him in the next month or two.

If you need to have guys sit but they're going to lose millions over it, probably not great for morale. Though I would agree that it certainly points in the direction of keeping him.

Until now, I thought Reiff getting cut was a foregone conclusion for months... this bonus certainly makes me rethink that. I still don't know where they find the $$$

Classy move to pay Reiff his million. Stupid move is this means he’s in the roster next year. He’s overpaid for his ability and we have his replacement in Ezra. Cut Reiff and use the money saved to get a solid LG. Time to get unstuck from average players making big dollars.

I think he stays and they draft a DL in the first round unless someone falls. Bring in a FA OL to hopefully start probably at LG.

If we keep Reiff there’s no money to sign a quality LG in free agency. Yeah, you might get another Compton or Ducasse but not an above average guy.

Not sure this means anything at all. The guy had a good year and adhered to all of the teams safety protocols during a pandemic, only to lose our on a bonus he was expected to make because of Covid the last game. They did the right thing and gave him what he deserved. Not to mention that player agents notice these kind of team gestures.

They obviously intend to renegotiate his current deal and this is a way of making Reiff happy with the deal he eventually gets.

Ben Goessling @goesslingstrib · 10m The $1 million the #Vikings gave Riley Reiff, to recoup the bonus he missed after he spent Week 17 on the COVID-19 list, will hit the cap in 2021. He’d carry $1M in dead money if the team released him before his $5M roster bonus hits 3/19. Still think a reworked deal is possible.
