Not sure why Baldelli put in Graterol. I was there watching it live. Dumb move.

Graterol looked very impressive in his 1st big league outing 2 nights earlier. Effortlessly threw 100mph fastballs and when he turned the ball over, throws a semi screwball that runs in on righties and away from lefties. When he gets THAT pitch down and slightly out of the zone consistently, he'll be a lights out closer.
I blame the loss on Baldelli. Tried to get cute bringing in Romo in the 8th, who throws junk, gave up a triple and deep SAC Fly to tie the game. If he had followed May with Duffy, who's been outstanding of late, and he held the lead it would have been Tyler Rogers time to close out the 9th.

Wade JR dove for a ball he wasn't gonna catch, that was not Romo's fault. Now why wasn't Kepler playing left and Buxton playing center at that point when Cave left? Or even Buxton in RF?
Wade JR and Graterol, 2 rookies blew the game, and they were in the game because of our manager. You don't put real green players in a very important game.

Twins squandering opportunities v. the Indians 2 straight innings: 1 where the pitcher walked the bases loaded and Rosario couldn't come thru even tho ahead in the count and popped out to short LF; next inning 2nd and 3rd, Sano thrown out at the plate (3rd base coach should never have sent him) Arraez doesn't advance on the throw to the plate with the catcher sprawled on the ground, followed by a fly to left center that woulda scored a run and then a ground out.
Twins clutch hitting is starting to leave a lot to be desired. Some guys are swinging for the fences instead of shortening their stroke hitting line drives. Have to take advantage of these opportunities to put the Indians out of the race with Pineda suspended and Gibson on the IL.
Fortunately, Odorizzi has looked very sharp tonight (10k's in 5 innings on a low pitch count) and then just lost it in the 6th, walking batters back to back and a double by Puig. Now tied 1-1.

Twins win 5-3 extending their lead over the Tribe to 6 1/2 games. Garver was pretty much the offense tonight with 2 homers (solo then a 3 run job).

Good thing Garver was able to carry the team offensively, his pitch blocking (or rather, lack of pitch blocking) has hurt the team lately.

Dan Hayes @danhayesmlb 2m
The #MNTwins have acquired Ryan LaMarre in a minor-league deal from the Atlanta Braves. Being added to the 40-man, but he is not postseason eligible. Takes place of Michael Pineda.

Twins lost 5-2 and squandered multiple opportunities to score runs in the late innings. The new guy (Lamarre) pinch hit with 2 runners on (even tho Sano, who got a day off, was available) in the 9th, swung at pitches way out of the zone (apparently like shoulder high fastballs) from an Indian's reliever who was having trouble finding the plate before taking a slider on the inside corner for a called strike 3 on a 3-2 count that was the closest pitch to a strike he saw.
It's these kind of little things that bug me as well as Baldelli's use of the bullpen. At least Romero looked good today in relief.

Yep. I thought that was odd too. More than odd actually when you're fighting for a division title.
