After last weekโs win and looking at the other bad teams in the league, I donโt see the Vikings picking top 5 this year and getting one of the three QBs. After QB, the most glaring needs are a LT to replace Reiff and a DT to play next to Pierce.
Iโm not a college football guru, is there a player at either of those positions that jumps out as a must have around the 10th pick?

It is likely that a team like Cincinnati or Miami (who have the Texans pick), will be picking high and will not be taking a QB. We are going to need to be aggressive and make a move to trade up. We have no choice, but to come out of the draft with our future QB, because we cannot go into next year with Cousins again unless we want to look at another year of no leadership and below average play at the most important position on the field.

But it will probably involve us sending next years 1st rder to move up since we donโt have our 2nd rd pick this year as currency. This is assuming weโre sitting around the 10th pick.

I agree with the responses about QB being more important, but if we don't go that route here are my $.02 on your original question: Let's see how Ezra Cleveland performs the rest of the way. Even though it's at guard, not tackle, it's still good film to see how he does from a balance and power perspective. I think he was drafted to be a tackle and right now is only at guard because we are so barren in talent on the interior. Between O'Neil and Cleveland, hopefully we have our tackles, regardless of who plays which side. Udoh replaces Rashod Hill as a cheaper swing tackle if he's looking ok in practice (we never get to see him in game). If it all works out how I'm speculating, DT becomes the bigger need. We'll get Pierce back for the nose, but we have nothing to pair him with right now at the 3T. But if we do draft DT in the first, it is imperative we get at least a decent GUARD in the 3rd. A guy like Solomon Kindley went in the 4th in the most recent draft, and he's doing quite nicely down in Miami, so there's definitely still quality talent available (just not Dru Samia). Along that vein of thought, don't count out G Wyatt Davis as the pick in the first. He's a top ten talent and would be my dream selection if we don't go after a QB and are picking in the 8-12 range. Cue up the responses of "you don't draft a guard that high!!" Tell that to Indianapolis. They took Quentin Nelson at #6 overall. Then early in the 2nd round they grabbed another guard - Braden Smith - and converted him to a RT. They went from one of the worst lines in the league to a top 5 unit in just one off-season. I don't think Wyatt is in the same league as Quentin as far as a prospect, Nelson is a generational talent. But Davis is no slouch and I wouldn't feel bad at all taking him at #10 +/- 2.

I kind of am interested in someone like Paye that can rush inside our outside, but that is me... Safety will be high on the need list also...

QB is a must if we will compete 2021 and beyond. Kirk can be very good in the right system with the right supporting cast but he will always need a good Oline and good defense to compete.

We need OL and DL period. Then roster fillers for ST and should be good to go then for next season. Then a New Staff will be coming in 2022.

Here's the thing IMO -- the team does not see QB as a need. It clearly is but the way the NFL is structured, it doesn't help Zimmer or Rick to keep their jobs to draft a future QB to develop in 2 years from now. More than likely they both know that if the team doesn't make the playoffs next year, they are both gone. They also know if they can just make the playoffs, even a big loss in wild card game, their job is safe. So everything points to playing it safe and trying to get a few pieces around Kirk to get to that wild card game.
That said, being out of the top ~8 picks, already means they'll likely miss out on the top 3 maybe 4 QBs in this draft. So even if they would want a QB they won't. TOtally agree that I think they are looking for a DT or an OL. Not clear to me if the coaches even know if they want OG or OT most since it's not clear if they want to keep Cleveland at OG or move him back to OT. #14 probably isn't a good slot for an OG, so I'd guess DT if they stay there.

I agree with others that the DT crop this year is very weak. Virtually all the DTs being considered for 1st round picks are 2nd rounders at best in a normal year. We need a good DT, but I don't want to reach. I think we need to go another way in round one. I would be more satisfied if we looked at DE if anything, but surely there has to be a good prospect at some position at #14.
