www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/28795801/sources-lsu-te-thaddeus-moss-found-broken-footGuy had a productive 2019 for LSU, was at his best in the playoffs. He's got good bulk and strength for the position but lacks the desired height after checking in just under 6'2". He was anticipated to be a 3rd rounder at best pre-injury news. If he undergoes surgery next week, and is sidelined for 6-8 weeks at minimum, maybe the Vikings could get him in the 5th (trade up) or 6th rounds? Wouldn't mind developing him to be Irv Smith Jr's running mate after Rudy is gone.

This draft is shaping up to be a solid WR draft, there could be 7 taken in the first round. That is good for us if we have a need spot (think DT) that the top player slide because of the wr depth, or we have a chance to stock up and unload Diggs in the future.

so you have to figure Jonathan Taylor's stock just went up. I knew he was going to run an insane 40

RB Jonathan Taylor's official 40-yard dash time: 4.39 seconds. Best of all running backs at the 2020 #NFLCombine. 👑

The Vikings do need wide receiver depth as after Theilen and Diggs there is virtually nothing at the position apart from Bisi Johnson.

It takes me an awful long time to digest all this Combine footage. I actually just finished Day 1, but here's some random/initial thoughts:
TIGHT ENDS It's a fairly nondescript group this year. There are no superstars at the top, nothing even remotely approaching the buzz of a TJ Hockenson from last year. It's a shame Thaddeus Moss has a broken foot, he was one I was looking forward to seeing. I think the problem is all the young TE prospects now want to be glorified WRs, and the blocking aspect of the position is falling by the wayside. Look at how tall and lean a lot of these guys are. At this point I'm not even sure who the #1 concensus TE is. Cole Kmet? Harrison Bryant? Neither of them wowed me enough to solidify that status. For a darkhorse, later round candidate I really liked Josiah Deguara. He ran fairly well, I think he led all TEs on the bench, he looked very smooth and natural in all the drills, and Daniel Jeremiah referenced a great hustle play where his QB threw an interception and Deguara ended up making the tackle down the field some 70 or so yards later. Those are the kind of bust-your-butt try-hard players I love to have on the team. You can't teach heart. Interestingly enough his NFL comp is Tyler Conklin. I don't think we are necessarily looking at TE, with Rudolph/Smith/Conklin all in the fold and an uncertain status with Morgan. But if this guy is still hanging around in the 6th I'd bring him in. I feel like Rudolph's contract is structured in a way that he'll never see the end of it, and my gut tells me we don't re-sign Morgan (one of my favorites), so it wouldn't hurt to add another guy to the bottom of the depth chart and see if he can work his way up.
WIDE RECEIVERS It's a crazy deep class of WRs, maybe historically so as some analysts are saying. I don't buy any of the Diggs rumors at this point so obviously we aren't going to spend premium draft currency on this position. But with so many quality receivers in this draft they are going to get pushed down a bunch and you will see crazy good bargains in the 3rd and 4th rounds. I won't bother talking about the Lambs and Jeudys and Ruggs types, but there are plenty others. Chase Claypool's 40 time probably vaulted him up at least a half round and well out of our range. I thought Jalen Reagor hurt his own stock the most with a very mediocre 40 and also looked a bit out of control in several of the receiving drills. Is it insane to hope that Brandon Aiyuk or Laviska Shenault might drop into the 3rd round? I really don't want a WR any earlier than that, but if either of them last that long I'd jump on it in a heartbeat. As DJ stated, everyone is looking for that Deebo Samuel slot type that can take some of the pressure off of your X and Y receivers, as well as run some gimmick plays and help in the return game. Bisi Johnson was a really nice find in the 7th, but let's face it, we could still use a bit more juice in that WR3 spot. Aiyuk is quick and can turn those short crossing routes into big gains. Shenault is built like a tank and can bull right through defenders. I also liked Antonio Gandy-Golden and John Hightower, but again, not until the third round. I know all these guys I'm mentioning have 2nd round grades, but like I said before with so many of them in this draft class I feel like many teams will have the mindset of waiting on WR and thinking they can come back and address it later on, making several of these guys available later than expected based on pure talent.
QUARTERBACKS Burrow, Tua, and Herbert are all going to be gone in the top 10, if not top 5. I think there is going to be some crazy jockeying for position in spots 2-6. I see Detroit trading down 1-3 spots and STILL landing their top CB prospect, while also taking in a nice haul of draft picks. Love is creating some noise and has gone from end of Round 1 to the 8-15 range. Fromm's stock took a dip, I'd say he's solidly out of the first round talks right now but he's intriguing in the second. Hurts looked extremely good in the drill and helped his stock. I didn't like Stanley, Lewerski, or Patterson much - they all look like journeyman back ups. Eason has a hell of an arm and looks like a slightly poor man's Josh Allen. I know we had an interest in FIU QB James Morgan, but he looks to have a fairly low ceiling as a mediocre backup QB. If he falls to the 5th or later I'd take a shot at him. It's a great year for us to go all in on a QB, what with Cousins in the final year of his contract there'd be no rush to start the rookie. But the stars just don't seem to be aligning for us, the amount of capital we'd have to sacrifice to get into the top 10 seems impossible to manage. I just don't see it happening guys... Maybe we take a shot at a small move up for Hurts in the late teens/early twenties? Settle on Fromm in the 2nd? I just don't know.

^^^Great write-up on the skill position players and QBs!
DBs working out today, Antoine Winfield Jr. clocked 40 times of 4.48 and 4.46 seconds respectively. He should be very happy with those times, more than a few "experts" were questioning his speed and I saw predictions ranging in the 4.7s-4.8s.
I think those times will help him with some position flexibility (safety and slot defender) in the NFL. He'll also get more consideration as a returner, something he excelled at in college.
