You can't change the offense on Cousins in the last year of his contract. All though many here, me included, don't think Cousins is the answer, The vikings need to know this is true, if you change his oc and Cousins stinks it up, then they'll have the excuse that he was learning a new offense. Klint Kubiak is the hire for this year.

Cousins probably needs to go anyway - get the right guy regardless of who your current QB is.
Shurmur is the only OC I have seen here recently that seems to understand you fit a scheme to your players and their abilities. Maybe Klint is that way too, but we (this board) certainly wouldn't know that.

Given none of us know anything about Klint Kubiak or his contributions (vs Dad & Stef) as our QB coach...
I wud take Tenn QB coach (fixed Tanehill) as our OC over Kubiak Jr. Just a thought.

Klint Kubiak has no experience calling plays and he's somehow going to be better than Stefanski who had a little over 1 season of playcalling experience?
The only Kubiak I think the Vikings should want as OC is Gary. I really wonder if Stefanski doesn't try to bring Klint with him. They're supposed to be friends and Klint would be able to get the promotion to "OC" with Stefanski actually calling the plays as HC/OC.

If so, Wilf just let two young/jr guys walk...have to wonder why? Esp if in 1 year you really plan to cut your sr. guys.

To keep Gary you would have to move Klint to OC, Gary would be basically calling the plays anyway. Otherwise Stefanski is going to hire Klint and Gary's going with him.

One of the worst OC we have had. It's hard to do anything against a team that is bigger and faster and your o line is getting their collective butts thrown around on every play, running or passing. I don't know what Stefanski could of done about that.

We are over matched bc we are also losing in FA and the draft, both on who we pick and who we don't.
I get we were hurt in the db group and that had something to do with the loss. Other groups were beat mostly based on bad player selection or coaching.

Exactly, and Zimmer is going to likely try and talk Spielman into another round 1 CB this year since Rhodes is almost assuredly a cap casualty. Is Zim finally going to figure out that if you continue to ignore the o-line it will bite you in the butt? We've been able to develop mid-to-late round defensive linemen because we have one of the better d-line coaches in the league in Patterson. Trying the mid-round o-linemen strategy will never work since we don't have someone there to "coach them up."

I don't know what Stefanski could of done about that. It is not rocket science. When the other team is crowding the line with 7-8 guys you don't keep playing right into it with 3 TE sets. The Saints scored 46 on them and they did that by spreading out the offense and making the 49ers spread their defense out. We just kept running the same plays expecting different results which is what Stefanski has done all year. Go back and look at the GB game and he did the same thing. He is far from proven as an OC.

Your riight, He is far from proven as an OC, and I see your point about spreading them out, but they still have to be able to block the other guys. The o line was a step slow. Maybe once in a while the vikes should actually practice on grass when they are going to be playing on grass.
